003 Kent County 1750 from part of Providence County. County seat: East Greenwich
005 Newport County 1703 formed as Rhode Island County in 1703. Renamed Newport County in 1729. County seat: Newport
007 Providence County 1703 formed in 1703 as Providence Plantations County. Renamed Providence County in 1729. County seat: Providence
009 Washington County 1729 formed in 1729 as Kings County from part of Providence Plantations County. Renamed Washington County in 1781. County seat: Wakefield. Washington County is more commonly known as South County.

NOTE: All the counties in Rhode Island are not 'counties' by standard definition and they do not have any county governments at all.
