From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is a list of characters from the Ojamajo Doremi series. The first story arc has been translated into English as Magical DoReMi while the other 150 episodes, 13 OVAs and two movies have not.

[edit] Notes

  1. ^ a b Harukaze translates to "Spring's Wind". This meaning is explained in an episode when Poppu gets her first grade exam.
  2. ^ Onpu is the Japanese name of a musical note.
  3. ^ In Spanish; n cannot precede p. All names are kept in the Spanish dub; Onpu's is just romanized differently.
  4. ^ a b Onpu and Momoko became apprentices before their first appearances.
  5. ^ Momoko translates to "peach" (Melocotón/Durazno in Spanish).
  6. ^ Hana's surname is Makihatayama, stated when she is inscribed at Misora Elementary School. She is introduced as Rika Makihatayama's (Mayorika's human alias) granddaughter. The meaning of the surname is "Flower in the Mountain Makihata" ( a famous mountain peak in Japan), although sometimes the name is referred instead as the Makihata word for "sewing machine".
  7. ^ Hana's solfege note is an octave above Doremi's Do.
  • All the girls's hair and eyes colour match perfectly with the colour of their magic dresses.
  • Four of the girls each have a "Magical boy" (wizard) counterpart. At first enemies, they later become friends, and they play the part of love interests but are always rejected, except in the dubious case of Doremi and Jeremy (the series never explains who becomes Doremi official boyfriend).
Pairings
Doremi Akatsuki (in some countries Jeremy)
Hazuki Fujio (in some parts Felix)
Aiko Leon (not changed)
Onpu/Nicole Tooru (Tony in some countries)
The boys form the wizard-group called "Flat 4". Flat is the opposite musical term to Sharp. They are at the orders of the clumsy and sometimes stupid Alexander T. Oyajide (Alejandro Oyajide, Count Phillipe) that commands them to kidnap Hana-Chan. Momoko, Pop and Hana each do not have a "boy" counterpart.
  • Momoko's American friend Mary looks like Reika Tamaki. In Motto, Momoko (meaning little peach, in Spanish "melocotoncito/duraznito", "momo" means peach and "ko" is a female diminutive of some Japanese names) and her become good friends - being the only Ojamajo who really appreciates Reika the way she is.
  • Izumi Todo does not exist, she is only an "imaginary" character made to represent Toei Animation.
