This is a list of best-selling albums in the United Kingdom. The top one hundred albums are listed. It is accurate as of November 2006 when an official list of the best selling albums was released by The Official Charts Company. [1]

[edit] Compiling the list
There are some difficulties in compiling such lists. Prior to the organisation of the UK album charts in the 1950s and 1960s, sales figures were less well collated. Sales figures for some older albums are necessarily approximations. There is also sometimes a difference between the number of albums 'shipped' - sent out to wholesalers or stores for sale - and the number actually sold over the counter.
