[edit] Sole Survivors (Winners)
- Six women and six men have won.
- When a male-female pair reached the final two, men have won 5 of 8 times. A male-male pair has only reached the final two once (Thailand), while female-female pairs have occurred three times (Marquesas, Pearl Islands and Guatemala).
- Five winners were in their 20s when they won, five were in their 30s when they won, and two players were in their 40s when they won.
- In the American version, four winners won by a 6-1 vote (three were women), three winners won by a 5-2 vote (all men), and five winners won by a 4-3 vote (including four of the first five seasons)
- Both winners in the British series won the grand prize by a sweep (7-0 vote). No grand prize winner on any of the other series have won by a sweep. In the third season of the French Survivor series, the six member jury split its votes 3/3 between the final two players, Delphine and Isabelle, who were therefore both declared winners in the only tie in the show's history.
- In ten out of twelve final votes, the player who lived north of the other player won. The only exceptions were: All-Stars and Guatemala. The only two northern players who lost were both competing for a second time.
- For three consecutive seasons directly after All-Stars, the only votes that the runner-up received during the final tribal council were from openly gay survivors:
- In Vanuatu, Ami Cusack and Scout Cloud Lee voted for Twila Tanner.
- In Palau, Coby Archa voted for Katie Gallagher.
- In Guatemala, Rafe Judkins voted for Stephenie LaGrossa.
[edit] Notable Eliminations
[edit] First Eliminations after the Merge
For 12 consecutive seasons, a man has been voted out at the first Tribal Council when the two tribes merged. The only exception to this is Gretchen Cordy in the original season in Borneo.
- Jeff Varner in Australia
- Clarence Black in Africa
- Rob Mariano in Marquesas
- Ken Stafford in Thailand. Although the tribes started living together prior to Ken's boot, his was the first after the official merge.
- Roger Sexton in The Amazon
- Andrew Savage in Pearl Islands
- Lex Van Den Berghe in All-Stars
- Rory Freeman in Vanuatu
- Coby Archa in Palau. Although there was no official merge in this season, Coby was the first player eliminated when all the players remaining were playing as individuals.
- Brandon Bellinger in Guatemala
- Nick Stanbury in Panama
- Nathan Gonzalez in Cook Islands
[edit] Eliminated away from Tribal Council
- Michael Skupin was airlifted from camp in Australia due to severe burn injuries. A Tribal Council was held in his absence but never broadcast.
- Bruce Kanegai was rushed to a Panama City hospital on Panama due to severe pain from a blocked colon and bladder, and did not return to the game, leading to his elimination. He was still able to participate in the jury.
- Jenna Morasca left All-Stars to be with her mother who had breast cancer and was taken away by boat. Incidentally, her mother died eight days later with Jenna by her side.
- Susan Hawk quit All-Stars due to emotional trauma following alleged contact with a naked Richard Hatch at a previous challenge and was taken away by boat just before a following challenge.
- Jonathan Libby and Wanda Shirk were not picked during the tribal selection phase on Day 2 of Palau and left the game, taken away by boat. In subsequent episodes, Jonathan was listed as an Ulong and Wanda was listed as a Koror in the show's opening credits. This may be because the tribes had to select men and women alternately; had they been kept in, they would have balanced each tribe at 5 men and 5 women.
- Ian Rosenberger of Palau asked to be voted out in the final Immunity Challenge. Ian agreed to give up in the final Immunity Challenge if Tom Westman agreed to vote out Ian and take Katie Gallagher to the Final Two. Due to the extended duration of the Challenge (nearly twelve hours) and the obviousness of the result, the vote was held informally at the Challenge site. Tom verbally confirmed that he was voting Ian off. Ian remained at the Challenge site while Tom and Katie returned to camp. This was the only post-merge vote that the jury did not attend in the history of the series.
[edit] Eliminated at Tribal Council by other than a majority vote
[edit] Quit at Tribal Council
- Osten Taylor quit the game in Pearl Islands. Osten originally asked his tribe to vote him out, then stated at Tribal Council that he was quitting, claiming he had serious health problems and his health was "more important to me than a million dollars." Jeff Probst felt he had no real reason to leave the game, but had the remaining tribe members verbally confirm that they accepted his decision. Probst considered Osten's decision dishonorable and, in protest, snuffed his torch with the words "Per your wishes, go home", tossing his extinguished torch to the ground. The producers refused to air the post-departure confessional that Osten recorded, which typically would have appeared during the closing credits and on the Pearl Islands web site.
- Janu Tornell of Palau pulled herself out of the game, partially to save Stephenie LaGrossa from being voted out, but was still permitted to serve on the jury.
[edit] Lost a tie-breaker
- Mitchell Olson and Jeff Varner of Australia and Lindsey Richter of Africa and were eliminated by greater numbers of votes at past tribal councils.
- Carl Bilancionwas eliminated from Africa by losing a Q&A challenge to Richter.
- Paschal English was eliminated from Marquesas by drawing the purple rock in a random tiebreaker, after a 2-2 vote for Neleh Dennis and Kathy Vavrick-O'Brien.
- In Palau, Ulong became the first tribe in the show's history to lose EVERY immunity challenge. When it was down to Bobby Jon Drinkard and Stephenie LaGrossa, they lost another Immunity Challenge; because there were only 2 players left on Ulong, when they went to Tribal Council, Bobby Jon and Stephenie had to compete in a fire-building contest which Stephenie won. When Bobby Jon brought his torch to Jeff Probst to be snuffed, Probst said, "The tribe has definitely not spoken. Nonetheless, it's time for you to go." Thus, Ulong became the only tribe in Survivor history to be reduced to one member- Stephenie. Later, instead of a merge, Stephenie was simply absorbed into the Koror tribe.
- Jennifer Lyon of Palau and Cirie Fields of Panama were each eliminated by losing a fire-building contest after a 2-2 vote among the Final Four contestants. A revote was held prior to Lyon's contest with Ian Rosenberger (using the same staging areas as Drinkard and LaGrossa). No revote was shown prior to Fields' contest with Danielle DiLorenzo.
[edit] Received fewer than half the ballots cast
- Gretchen Cordy received four of ten votes when she was voted out of Borneo, but it was enough as six other players each received only one vote.
- Bobby Mason was voted out of Panama after receiving three of seven votes, with the other four votes going to three different people.
[edit] Requested to be voted out
- Three players were voted out at their own request after their tribe lost an Immunity Challenge. Another asked to be voted out after stepping down in the final Immunity Challenge.
- Borneo's BB Andersen persuaded his tribe to oust him on day 6, a move he said he later regretted. BB was depicted as a likely candidate to be voted out anyhow, due to his bossy nature and the fact that he used the tribe's drinking water to wash his shirt.
- On day 6, Ashlee Ashby of Palau, complaining of illness and exhaustion, convinced her tribe (Ulong) to eliminate her.
- On day 8, Jeff Wilson of Palau, also of Ulong, was voted out after seriously injuring his ankle on a loose coconut at camp, causing him to withdraw early from the following Immunity Challenge.
- One player, Ian Rosenberger of Palau, asked to be voted out in the final Immunity Challenge (as described above under the "Eliminated away from Tribal Council" heading).
- Four other players asked to be voted out but their tribemates refused.
- Shawna Mitchell of The Amazon complained of illness and asked to leave on day 12, but her tribemates voted out Joanna Ward instead. Shawna recovered after a tribal swap brought in an infusion of male members, but was eventually voted out on day 21.
- Osten Taylor of Pearl Islands wanted to quit and asked to be voted out on day 6, but his tribemates voted out Ryan Shoulders instead. He eventually quit on day 18 at Tribal Council (as described above).
- Shane Powers of Panama asked his tribemates to vote him out, but his ally Aras convinced him to stay in the game. Shane's tribe sent Melinda Hyder home instead.
- Stephannie Favor from Cook Islands asked to be voted off when she realized that she was the weakest link in her tribe. However, after talking to other female tribemates, she changed her mind and agreed to form an all-female alliance and sent JP Calderon home instead. She was eliminated during the following Tribal Council, after saying that she missed eating certain foods.
[edit] Double Elimination
- On day 19 of Pearl Islands, the Outcast tribe, which consisted of the 6 players who had already been voted out, were given the chance to return to the game by defeating the Drake and Morgan tribes in a special Challenge, which they did. The two defeated tribes were then required to vote out one member each; Drake sent Shawn Cohen home while Morgan did not have to vote somebody out since Osten Taylor quit the game. The following night, the Outcast tribe voted Lillian Morris and Burton Roberts back into the game. This is the first time that the show had to ask two tribes to go to Tribal Council on the same night.
- Except for Panama, all seasons after All-Stars have featured 18 or more contestants, leading to an episode where both tribes went to Tribal Council to vote out one player each. Additionally, the tribe who had won the preceding Challenge was able to--in one way or another--affect the losing tribe's vote by exempting one of its players from elimination.
- On day 7 of Vanuatu, the Lopevi tribe defeated Yasur in a Reward Challenge and got a fishing spear. John Kenney overcame all the Lopevi men in an individual Immunity Challenge and was given the right to observe Yasur until so that he could give away his Immunity after his own tribe's Tribal Council. John Palyok was booted in the Lopevi Tribal Council, then Ami Cusack received Immunity from Kenney and Mia Galeotalanza was sent home by Yasur.
- On day 12 of Palau, Koror won the Reward Challenge but had to vote Willard Smith off. With the Ulong losing streak, this was the only time Koror had to go to Tribal Council during the separate tribe phase. However, after the vote, the remaining tribe members moved to the jury seating to watch the Ulong Tribal Council, and then voted formally to give Immunity to one member of Ulong--Ibrehem Rahman. After a tie vote between Angie Jakusz and Bobby Jon Drinkard, Ulong revoted and Stephenie switched her vote, leading Angie to be eliminated.
- On day 15 of Guatemala, Nakúm won the Reward Challenge and then competed in an a individual Challenge won by Rafe Judkins. Nakúm voted out Margaret Bobonich, then Rafe voted secretly which member of Yaxhá he was assigning Immunity to, before returning to camp. Prior to the Yaxhá vote, Jeff Probst revealed the Immunity from Rafe went to Gary Hogeboom. Brian Corridan was then voted out with 5 votes.
- On day 15 of Cook Islands, Aitutaki won the Reward Challenge, but still had to vote Cao Boi Bui off. They then watched Rarotonga's Tribal Council and, in a twist, were asked to "kidnap" one member of Rarotonga who would not participate in the vote but would observe while feasting with Aitutaki, and would then live with the Aitutaki tribe until the next Reward Challenge. Nathan Gonzalez was chosen to be kidnapped and the rest of the Rarotonga tribe voted out Cristina Coria.
- On day 24 of Cook Islands, Rarotonga lost the Immunity Challenge and received a bottle with a note in it to be opened after their next vote at Tribal Council. After Rebecca Borman was voted out 6-1 and left Tribal Council, Parvati Shallow was instructed to open the note, which said that the tribe must immediately vote off another player. Jenny Guzon-Bae was then voted off 4-2. This marked the first time that one tribe had lost two members in a single episode.
[edit] Voting Blocs
The post-merge voting bloc of Richard, Kelly, Rudy and Susan in Borneo that took them all to the Final Four by sticking together has spawned alliances in every subsequent season, but with at least four different strategies and degrees of success:
- In only two seasons (Borneo and Thailand) has an original voting bloc gone on to win the game. The Borneo merge was 5-5 and the Tagi bloc eliminated the 5 Pagong members before voting off their first Tagi tribemate, Sean Kenniff - ultimately, Richard Hatch of this bloc won the game. The Thailand merge was 5-3 and the 5-person Chuay Gahn bloc eliminated the last 3 Sook Jai members before turning on their own, and eventually awarding the title of Sole Survivor to Brian Heidik.
- In two other seasons (All-Stars and Panama), one tribe entered the merge with a majority (6-4) and systematically eliminated 3 of the 4 minority tribe members first. However, because the final minority tribe member (Shii Ann Huang in All-Stars and Terry Deitz in Panama) had immunity, their elimination was delayed by one or more Tribal Councils, forcing the voting bloc to eliminate their own members until the minority member no longer had immunity (at which point they were voted out). This steadfast strategy ultimately helped majority tribe members Amber Brkich (All-Stars) and Aras Baskauskas (Panama) win the game.
- In five seasons (Australia, Africa, Amazon, Pearl Islands and Palau), the dominant tribe alternately voted out minority members as well as their own, but still went on to win the game, suggesting that a voting bloc doesn't necessarily need to vote systematically to still end up winning in the end.
- Most interestingly, in three seasons (Marquesas, Vanuatu and Guatemala), the underdog tribe at the time of the merge has successfully managed to win the game. Despite entering the merge on the losing end of a 7-3 bloc, Vecepia Towery won immunity at just the right times to allow her to win Marquesas. In Vanuatu, the 6-4 female voting bloc eliminated three men immediately, but fractured with 7 people left in the game, allowing male Chris Daugherty to serve as a swing vote long enough to reach the final two and end up beating mutineer Twila Tanner. In Guatemala, Danni Boatwright and her three Yaxha tribemates merged with the six-person Nakum tribe, and she watched all three eliminated in the first four post-merge Tribal Councils, but positioned herself strategically enough to go on to beat all the Nakum members for the title of Sole Survivor.
[edit] Notable challenge patterns
[edit] The Car Curse
Traditionally, one of the final Reward Challenges of each season has a car awarded as a prize, but no player who has won this Challenge has gone on to win the million dollar prize. This was first referenced on a regular episode of the program, during Guatemala, when Jeff Probst acknowledged the curse by making a special offer to Reward Challenge winner Cindy Hall. She could keep her newly-won car, or give it up and instead all four other remaining Survivors would receive cars. After some thought, she decided to keep her car, which ultimately continued the curse as she was voted out that night at Tribal Council.
Amber Brkich, winner of All-Stars, was awarded a car as part of the final Reward Challenge, but only because she was selected by Rob Mariano, the actual winner of the Challenge.
Before the filming of Cook Islands began, General Motors, a sponsor of each of the first 12 editions of Survivor, discontinued their sponsorship with the show, citing that sponsoring the show no longer fit the company's business objectives. [1] Ford has taken GM's place and is giving away a new Mercury Mariner SUV. For the first time ever, viewers can vote online for which castaway they think should win the car.
The results of each season are as follows:
Season | Car Winner | Make/Model | Finish | Details |
---|---|---|---|---|
Borneo | None | No car was given out during a reward challenge. | ||
Australia | Colby Donaldson | Pontiac Aztek | 2nd place | Only four competed in "Survivor Pentathlon." As winner he was surprised with a visit from his mother. |
Africa | Lex van den Berghe | Chevy Avalanche | 3rd Place | Won the "Swahilli Scramble" word search challenge with answer "Avalanche." Vehicle was used for AIDS supplies delivery to a local clinic. |
Marquesas | Sean Rector | Saturn VUE | 5th Place | Won car and voted out in same episode. First time the car challenge was an amalgam of elements from past challenges. At the Reunion episode, all other contestants were also given a VUE and Rector was given a second. |
Thailand | Ted Rogers, Jr. | Chevy Trailblazer | 5th Place | Won car and voted out in same episode. Brian Heidik had a sizable lead in the challenge but he misspelled the answer phrase "Road Trip" (seemingly on purpose), only to have Ted win it a few moments later. However, Heidik won the season. |
The Amazon | Matthew Von Ertfelda | Saturn ION | 2nd Place | First person since Colby Donaldson to win the car and make it to the final Tribal Council. |
Pearl Islands | Burton Roberts | GMC Envoy | 5th Place | Won car and voted out in same episode. The only time the vehicle was not indicated as part of the reward until after it was won. |
All-Stars | Rob Mariano | Chevy Colorado | 2nd Place | The other part of the reward which was a "Survivor Drive-In" experience for himself and a guest; he chose Amber Brkich. During the reward, Jeff Probst, who had driven with the two to the reward, surprised Amber with her own new Chevy Malibu. She received it for losing the challenge, but being selected to share in the reward - technically keeping the curse alive. |
Vanuatu | Eliza Orlins | Pontiac G6 | 4th Place | First female ever to win a car in a challenge on Survivor. The "Bridge Over Troubled Water" challenge had six competitors and was not a recap of past challenges. |
Palau | Ian Rosenberger | Chevrolet Corvette | 3rd Place | Boating and Geographical challenge rather than a recap. |
Guatemala | Cindy Hall | Pontiac Torrent | 5th Place | Before she went off on the second half of her reward, Jeff Probst made an offer acknowledging the curse (for the first time on the show). She could give up her car and give the other four Survivors cars, or keep her own. After heavy thought, Cindy decided to keep her car. After being voted out later that episode, Hall said "Thanks, guys. I'll be thinking of you when I see the stars through the sunroof of my new car." In summarizing the episode, the official website had a picture of Cindy with the word "CURSED!" above it. |
Panama | Terry Deitz | GMC Yukon | 3rd Place | After a 3-on-3 water-based obstacle course, the losers returned to camp (and Exile Island), while the winners continued to a surprise slingshot contest for the vehicle. Jeff Probst mentioned the curse during the live reunion after the finale, making it the second time that he has mentioned it on the show. |
[edit] Final Immunity Challenge
- Except in Australia, which featured a "Fallen Comrades" trivia quiz, the final Immunity Challenge has always been a test of endurance. The three remaining players are placed in a physically difficult position and required to maintain it without break. Any player who breaks the pose or touches the ground is out; the last one standing wins the challenge. Winning the final Immunity Challenge has two rewards--the winner automatically goes to the Final Two and also chooses one of the two remaining players to eliminate, thereby choosing his or her opponent in the Final Two.
- Despite these advantages, only five out of the twelve players who won the final Immunity Challenge have gone on to win the game, none until the fifth season.
- Seven out of the twelve eliminated players went on to vote against the person who had just eliminated them.
- Only once, in Marquesas, have all three competitors in the final challenge been women. Never have all three been men.
- Of the seven times a woman has faced two men in a final three endurance challenge, she has won four times. Of the four times a man has faced two women in the final endurance challenge, he has won twice.
- A person of color has reached the final three only twice, but in both cases they have gone on to win - Vecepia Towery from Marquesas and Sandra Diaz-Twine from Pearl Islands. Because the currently remaining players in Cook Islands only include one white person, this will be the third time a person of color has reached the Final Two.
[edit] Challenges held at Tribal Council
- "Fallen Comrades" trivia quiz for Immunity in the first four seasons
- "Will Power" endurance challenge for Immunity at the final three in The Amazon
- "Tribal Draft" trivia challenge for Immunity, pitting the final four against the Jury in Pearl Islands
- Tiebreaker competitions in Africa (Q&A), Marquesas (selecting random rocks), Palau (fire-building, twice) and Panama (fire-building)
[edit] Challenges begun after sunset
Although some Challenges continue past sunset, very few Challenges have begun in the dark.
- "Abandoned Barracks" object hunt for Reward, Episode 6, Borneo
- "Fugitives" folklore comprehension for Immunity, Episode 12, Australia
- "Virtues of Fire" fire making competition for Immunity, Episode 10, Marquesas
- "Snuff It" cultural Q & A for Immunity, Episode 10, Thailand
- "Touchy Subjects" group opinion Q & A for Immunity, Episode 10, The Amazon
- The challenges held at Tribal Council listed above
[edit] Throwing the Immunity Challenge
In Survivor history there are 4 tribes that chose to throw the Immunity Challenge in hopes of voting out one of their own.
- Boran from Africa--After a tribal shuffle sent Samburu members Frank Garrison, Teresa Cooper and Silas Gaither over to Boran, Ethan Zohn decided that his tribe should throw the Immunity Challenge to get rid of Silas.
- Sook Jai from Thailand--After winning two straight Immunity Challenges, Sook Jai threw the next Immunity Challenge to have the opportunity to vote out Jed Hildebrand, which they successfully did. This turned out to be a fateful move for them, as Chuay Gahn eventually surpassed them in number of Immunity Challenges won, and voted out the remaining members of Sook Jai after the two tribes merged.
- Drake from Pearl Islands--After winning three Immunity Challenges in a row, Burton Roberts planned to throw the Challenge in order to get rid of Christa Hastie. However, in the end, it was Burton who got booted. Moreover, after throwing this Immunity Challenge, the Morgan tribe's losing streak turned around and they defeated Drake in another two Immunity Challenges.
- Aitutaki from Cook Islands--Ozzy Lusth decided that Billy Garcia was too lazy, so he plotted to throw the Challenge in order to vote Billy off. Cristina Coria was initially against this idea, as she felt it would lead to potential problems in the future. Her fears would, to an extent, be realized; in the next five episodes, four members of the original Aitutaki would be voted out: all but Ozzy.
[edit] Names of Merged Tribes
When the original tribes merge into a single tribe, the players are given the responsibility of naming the new tribe as well as creating a new flag.
- Six seasons have had a merged tribe named after something or someone:
- Borneo's Rattana tribe was named for the large amount of rattan wood on the island (by Jenna Lewis).
- Australia's Barramundi tribe was named after the barramundi fish (by Keith Famie).
- Africa's Moto Maji tribe was derived from the Swahili words for "fire" and "water" (by Lex Van Den Berghe).
- The Amazon's Jacaré tribe was derived from the Portuguese word for the Yacare Caiman.
- Pearl Islands's Balboa tribe was named after the explorer Vasco Núñez de Balboa which Rupert Boneham named his pet snake on the island.
- Panama's tribe was named "Gitanos", from the Spanish word for gypsies (by Bruce Kanegai).
- Four seasons have fashioned the merged tribe's name from the names of the original tribes:
- Thailand's Chuay Jai ( ช่วยใจ: "Help Heart" = Strengthen Courage) was formed from Chuay Gahn ( ช่วยกัน: Help Together) and Sook Jai ( สุขใจ:Happy Heart).
- All-Stars's Chaboga Mogo was a combination of Chapera, Saboga and Mogo Mogo (according to DVD commentary by the Final Four contestants, it was intended to be one word - Chabogomogo).
- Guatemala's Xhakum was formed from Yaxha and Nakum.
- Cook Islands's Aitutonga was formed from Aitutaki and Rarotonga.
- Two seasons have had merged tribe names that were coined to have a special meaning:
- Marquesas chose Soliantu, which the survivors made up to mean "sacred allegiance to the sun".
- Vanuatu named the merged tribe Alinta to mean "people of fire" (by Scout Cloud Lee).
- Palau did not have a formal merge due to Ulong's losing streak; the final remaining Ulong member, Stephenie LaGrossa, was instead absorbed into the other tribe, Koror.
[edit] Overall trivia
- Of the 202 Survivors who played over the 13 seasons, 22 got to play twice: All 18 All-Stars players, plus Burton Roberts and Lillian Morris who returned in Pearl Islands due to a special twist, and Stephenie LaGrossa and Bobby Jon Drinkard, who returned to Guatemala after their popularity in Palau.
- Series host Jeff Probst declared that strategic mastermind Rob Cesternino from The Amazon was the smartest player in history to never win. His reputation caused him to become a major target on All-Stars.
- The first twist introduced after a season had already started was a swapping of tribe members during Africa, which has subsequently happened every season except Thailand, Pearl Islands and Palau. (Interestingly, this concept was floated about during Australia, but when Mitchell Olson was eliminated, leaving the tribes uneven, that was the end of it.) The four tribes in Panama and Cook Islands rearranged into two by means of a redraft. In addition, in Thailand and Cook Islands, Jeff Probst gave the Survivors a choice to defect to the opposite tribe immediately before a Reward Challenge. In Thailand, nobody accepted the opportunity, but when offered in Cook Islands, Candice Woodcock and Jonathan Penner did so and were immediately branded as mutineers. Though defecting initially appeared to work in their favor, Candice and Jonathan were ultimately voted off by their former Aitu tribemates they had abandoned.
- Additional mid-game twists have included the colored rock tiebreaker at Tribal Council in Marquesas, the false merge in Thailand, the outcasts' return in Pearl Islands, the hidden immunity idol in Guatemala, and the message in a bottle forcing the losing tribe to vote out two people at one Tribal Council in Cook Islands.
- As of the first 13 seasons, only once has Jeff Probst not been able to tell who a vote was cast for. In Thailand, Clay Jordan cast a vote that read "Bye, Bye Denver Diva," which was meant for Ghandia Johnson. Jeff had to ask for the voter to reveal himself in order to clarify who the vote was for. Jordan sheepishly admitted his vote, which prompted Jeff to declare "no more nicknames," a rule that has since been followed in all subsequent seasons. Nicknames were only accepted when Jeff was able to know who the vote was for.
- Guatemala was the northernmost location used for Survivor; Australia was the southernmost.
- Australia is the only season to have more than thirty-nine days of competition; this edition consisted of forty-two days.
[edit] Official fan polling
CBS conducts fan polls on the official website of the show: www.cbs.com/primetime/survivor.
[edit] Most Popular
The most popular Survivor at the end of a series is Rupert Boneham from Pearl Islands and All-Stars (95%). The player with the highest popularity ever was Jessie Camacho from Africa, who was at 98% popularity in the pre-show (but her popularity went down drastically once the game started). However, since Jessie's popularity was only high before the game, Rupert is considered to be the most popular ever. Stephenie LaGrossa had the popularity during Palau, peaking at 97%, but that number declined over time, and ended at 92%.
[edit] Least Popular
Currently, the least popular survivor is Jon Dalton, also from Pearl Islands (18%). However, the player with the lowest popularity ever was Daniel Lue from The Amazon, who was at 9% popularity in the fifth episode, but later on his popularity went up.
[edit] Best Moments
According to a fan poll first released during the America's Tribal Council finale of All-Stars, these were the best moments from the first eight seasons:
- Sue Hawk's bitter "snake and rat" speech in Borneo
