These books include discussions about Theology (Tawhīd, Nubuwwah, Imamah, etc ) of Shi'a.

These books want to describe theology of Shi'a reasonably in contrast with Ash'ari, Mu'tazili and other theologic sects of Islam. The contects of this books are produced from 8th centuries(second to 7th century of Islam).

- Nahj al-Balagha — Collected sermons of Imam 'Ali ibn Abi Talib.

- Kitab Al-Kafi (divided into Usul al-Kafi, Furu al-Kafi and Roza-tul-Kafi) of Kulayni
- Man la Yahdhuruhu'l Faqih of Shaikh Saduq
- Tahdhibu'l Ahkam by Abu Ja'far al-Tusi
- Al-Istibsar by Abu Ja'far al-Tusi
- The Book of Sulaym ibn Qays — Purportedly one of the earliest surviving collections of Hadith. (Disputed by some shia scholars)
- Bihar al-Anwar — 1600s by Allama Majlesi. An encyclopedic, 100 volume collection, meant to include all Hadith current at the time of compilation without regard of authenticity
