Rae Carruth, former NFL wide receiver who in 2001 was found guilty of conspiring to murder his girlfriend.
Richard Chase, serial killer known as "The Vampire of Sacramento," who killed six people (four of them in one day) in the span of a month in Sacramento
Lynette Fromme, aka Squeaky Fromme, attempted to assassinate U.S. President Gerald Ford in Sacramento

Theodore Kaczynski, the Unabomber, murdered Gilbert B. Murray in Sacramento. After his arrest, Kaczynski was returned to Sacramento and held in Sacramento County Jail
Adrian Lamo, journalist and former hacker who in 2003 surrendered to US Marshals in Sacramento to face charges of criminal unauthorized access to computers at The New York Times and Microsoft. Lamo was sentenced to probation in Carmichael, California until 2007
Charles Ng, serial torture-murderer operated between San Francisco Bay Area and Calaveras County. After extradition from Canada, was held for trial in Folsom Prison
Dorothea Puente, serial murderer, Sacramento rooming house operator buried victims in her F Street yard
Kathleen Soliah, aka Sara Jane Olson, SLA member confessed to murder committed in course of bank robbery in Carmichael
Wendy Yoshimura, getaway driver in fatal bank robbery in Carmichael
