List of Parliamentary constituencies in Mid Glamorgan

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Parliamentary constituency boundaries used in Wales up to the United Kingdom general election, 2005 were drawn up before the local government reorganisation in 1996, and subsequent changes to Preserved counties boundaries have left some constituencies spanning their boundaries. The Preserved county of Mid Glamorgan is divided into 6 Parliamentary constituencies, one shared with Gwent and 3 partly lying in South Glamorgan, plus a very small part of a seventh. They are all County constituencies.

Proposed Revision

Current proposals by the Boundary Commission for Wales would retain these 6 constituencies, with changes to realign constituency boundaries with the boundaries of current local government wards, and to reduce the electoral disparity between constituencies. Constituency boundaries will be aligned the South Glamorgan boundary, but Merthyr Tydfil and Rhymney will continue to be shared with Gwent. These changes are expected to be implemented at the United Kingdom general election, 2009/10.
