Cleveland, England is no longer a county council area, nor is it a ceremonial county, but the constituency boundaries used up to the United Kingdom general election, 2005 were drawn up when it was both. The area is divided into 6 Parliamentary constituencies - 5 Borough constituencies and 1 County constituency.

Current proposals by the Boundary Commission for England would retain these 6 constituencies, with changes to realign constituency boundaries with the boundaries of current local government wards, and to reduce the electoral disparity between constituencies. These changes are expected to be implemented at the United Kingdom general election, 2009/10.
