2. Name: Dino Ortolani

Episode Title: The Routine

Cause of death: Burned to death.

Death Scenario: Dino Ortolani was sent to the hole where he was restrained and sedated after killing Sanchez. Johnny Post used this opportunity and burned him alive. (Following Jefferson Keane's orders, whose brother Ortolani beat up earlier)

Also involved in that death is Ryan O'Reily, who used his connections with the COs to allow Post's entry to the hole. O'Reily manipulated Keane into ordering Ortolani's death because of their shared past; Ortolani had been sent to Oswald after he attempted to murder O'Reily.

3. Name: Johnny Post

Episode Title: Visits, Conjugals and Otherwise

Cause of death: Stabbed to death after being tortured and mutilated.

Death Scenario: Ryan O'Reily ratted him out to Nino Schibetta for killing Ortolani. It is later seen that the wiseguys have him gagged and tied to a chair, and Nino gives them the order to "Kill him. Start with his dick".

It is only later discovered in the news that he was tortured, with several fingers and his genitals being cut off, and then stabbed to death.

4. Name: Julio Martinez

Episode Title: God's Chillin'

Cause of death: Broken neck.

Death Scenario: Jefferson Keane, once the leader of the gangstas in Oz, converted to Islam out of remorse for his previous actions. Guilty for arranging the death of Dino Ortolani and his responsibility for Johnny Post's death, Keane told Ryan O'Reily that O'Reily, too, must repent for his sins. Taken aback at Keane's conversion, O'Reily decided to have Keane killed rather than risk the chance of Keane revealing O'Reily's connections to the murders of Johnny Post and Dino Ortolani. He approached Nino Schibetta, who approved the hit. O'Reily then used his connections with the guards to lock Keane in the gymnasium with two Latinos who intended to murder him. Keane managed to get the better of them; one of them, Julio Martinez, ended up with a broken neck. Unfortunately, Keane had been videotaped by the guards, and his murder would come back to haunt him.

Cause of death: Lethal injection.

Death Scenario: Jefferson Keane was condemned to die by lethal injection for the murder of Julio Martinez. Despite killing Martinez in self-defense, Keane decided not to appeal. However, Said and his brethren rejected Mershah's overtures, despite embracing him as a brother. Mershah then attempted to turn several members of Said's flock against him, to no avail. Finally, while Said was having a heart attack, Mershah left him to die, hoping to usurp his place and become the new imam of the Muslims of Oz.

Said survived, however, and upon his return from the hospital ward, he was quick to inform the other Muslims of Mershah's actions. They cast him out, shunning him and refusing to even acknowledge his existence. In an attempt to cause problems for Said, Mershah told Leo Glynn and Tim McManus that Said and the Muslims were stockpiling weapons, causing a massive shakedown. Ironically, many in Emerald City had weapons, but not Said and the Muslims. Mershah had now become an enemy to the rest of Em City as well.

The homeboys then asked him for his recipe, so that they will not be dependent on him, and he gave them a recipe. The Italians noticed that, and decided to eliminate the competition. Bukowski was approached by them in the kitchen, and was dragged into the boiler room where Pancamo pressed his head into a steam pipe and opened the valve, killing him. Kelsch murders Glynn during a celebration in his honor. The actual murder is not shown on screen, but we see McManus see blood-trails going out of Glynn's bathroom, and later Glynn walking slowly, bleeding heavily from his stomach with a tuxedo. (As he apparently prepared for the party when Kelsch attacked him) He finally collapses upon entering the room in which the party took place. Everyone rushes to his help, but it is too late for him as he has no pulse.

Kelsch and Johnson are later seen nodding silently to each other.

Murderer: Lionel Kelsch.

16. Name: Cyril O'Reily

Episode Title: Exeunt Omnes

Cause of death: Electrocution.

Death Scenario: Cyril was sentenced to death for stabbing Li Chen to death. His death sentence was obviously objectionable, both because he was protecting his brother Ryan, whom Li was trying to kill (thus potentially making it a justifiable homicide), and because, more importantly, Cyril was severely retarded. In 2002, the Supreme Court decision in Atkins v. Virginia ruled that the execution of the mentally retarded was unconstitutional; Cyril was executed in 2003. The explanation for this is that each state legislature decides on their own criteria for "retardation," and the state in which Oz is located decided that, in order to be retarded, one must show signs of retardation by the age of 18. Cyril sustained his brain damage as an adult. Although a stay of execution is granted for Cyril, his death sentence is not overturned. Since Cyril has been undergoing electroshock therapy, Ryan opts to have Cyril executed by the electric chair, explaining to him that it is just one last special ECT treatment. In the time leading up to his execution, Cyril is guileless, believing that he will soon be returned to live with Ryan and even have a television. As he is strapped in, however, he begins to suspect something is wrong, becoming afraid and screaming, "Ryan!"

Murderer: The state.

17. Name: Vernon Schillinger

Episode Title: Exeunt Omnes

Cause of death: Stabbed.

Both Schillinger and Beecher were acting in Suzanne Fitzgerald's production of Macbeth, the former as the title character and the latter as Macduff. Keller, who was managing props, told Schillinger he would slip him a real knife instead of a prop one; that way, Beecher's death would appear to be an accident. Instead, Keller gives an unsuspecting Beecher the real knife, and Beecher fatally stabs Schillinger. Schillinger understands instantly and looks off into the wings at Keller, saying "That son of a bitch."

Murderer: Tobias Beecher.

15. Name: Chris Keller

Episode Title: Exeunt Omnes

Cause of death: Neck broken in a fall.

Death Scenario: After orchestrating Schillinger's death, Keller gets himself moved back into Em City--and into Beecher's pod. Beecher insists that he still wants nothing to do with Keller, that he cannot forgive Keller, and that, although he loves him, Keller is death, and Beecher believes in life. Keller, who has backed up against a railing during their argument, leans in, kisses Beecher, whispers, "I love you, Toby," and flings himself backwards off the balcony to his death. His perverse sense of humor shows itself for a last time as he screams, "Beecher, DON'T!" Despite appearances, Sister Peter Marie tells Beecher she believes he will be exonerated.

Murderer: Self.

16-?. Name: The entire Aryan Brotherhood and 2 COs

Episode Title: Exeunt Omnes

Cause of death: Unidentified chemical weapon.

Death Scenario: Shortly before killing himself, Keller tells Beecher that Beecher does not need to worry about retribution from the Aryans following Schillinger's death. He refuses to explain what he means. After Keller dies, we see the Aryan Brotherhood working in the mail room. One receives a package, opens it, and sees a large jar filled with a white powder. He unscrews the top, and everyone in the room is instantly killed by whatever toxin it contains. This prompts the evacuation of Oz that ends the series.

Murderer: Chris Keller.
