The List of North American ports is primarily shipping ports of North America
[edit] Introduction
This list of North American ports consists primarily of shipping ports of North America, but also includes some that are primarily or significantly devoted to other purposes: cruises[1], fishing[2], local delivery[3], marinas[4]. For major ports ranked by cargo tonnage see: for the US, List of ports in the United States [5], for Canada see reference[6], and for world ranking see List of world's busiest ports by cargo tonnage [7]. Similar Canada, US, and Mexico rankings also exist for container volume and value. All are listed in geographic order where possible(marine: coastwise from north to south or east to west; riverine downstream to mouth). Other notes: seasonal[8], drydock[9], river mile(in statute miles unless noted) and side of river (facing downstream) [10] [11] [12] [13] [14] Mississippi Basin[15] Dubai Ports World controversy[16].
