In Tokyo, Hiro Nakamura can bend space and time. In New York City, Isaac Mendez, while under the influence of drugs, can paint pictures of future events. One prophetic painting shows a nuclear explosion engulfing Manhattan. Mohinder Suresh decides to complete his late father's work in tracking down these special people. |

At a bizarre and gruesome crime scene, Los Angeles beat cop Matt Parkman is the only one who can hear the cries of a missing little girl. Mohinder meets his father's neighbor, Eden McCain. Claire learns that her injury attempt tape has disappeared. Niki loses another block of time after waking to find some brutally murdered thugs in her garage and leaves town with her son, Micah. Peter confronts Nathan following his plunge off the building, and Nathan reveals that Peter flew as well. Hiro, in New York five weeks in the future, discovers a disaster awaiting them all. |

Matt is questioned by FBI agent Audrey Hanson about suspected serial killer Sylar, who Mohinder learns had a connection with his dead father. Matt and Audrey confront Sylar but he gets away. In the desert, Niki discovers a mass grave which may be linked to her ex-husband. Peter tries to fly again but cannot; however, he and Simone grow closer. Claire is nearly raped and suffers a fatal head injury, but awakes to find herself undergoing an autopsy. |

Hiro and Ando try to continue their journey to New York, when they are stopped by the Vegas high-roller who gave them trouble before. He offers them a deal they can't refuse. Then, after failing to act like a "superhero" when faced with danger, Hiro questions his heroism. As Mr. Bennet sets up a meeting for his daughter Claire with her biological parents, she hopes that questions about her newfound abilities can be answered. Meanwhile, Isaac receives another confusing call from Hiro, but Peter is there this time to pick up the phone and relay a life-saving message. Mohinder bids farewell to Eden as he heads back to India to spread his father's ashes. D.L. Hawkins shows up at Niki's home. Mr. Bennet is disturbed by news from one of his associates. |
