Seemingly random people from around the world discover that they have strange abilities. In Odessa, Texas, Claire Bennet can heal herself at a superhuman rate. In New York City, Peter Petrelli jumps from the roof of a building and finds that his politician brother, Nathan can fly. In Las Vegas, Niki Sanders has a sinister mirror image. In Tokyo, Hiro Nakamura can bend space and time. In New York City, Isaac Mendez, while under the influence of drugs, can paint pictures of future events. One prophetic painting shows a nuclear explosion engulfing Manhattan. Mohinder Suresh decides to complete his late father's work in tracking down these special people.

At a bizarre and gruesome crime scene, Los Angeles beat cop Matt Parkman is the only one who can hear the cries of a missing little girl. Mohinder meets his father's neighbor, Eden McCain. Claire learns that her injury attempt tape has disappeared. Niki loses another block of time after waking to find some brutally murdered thugs in her garage and leaves town with her son, Micah. Peter confronts Nathan following his plunge off the building, and Nathan reveals that Peter flew as well. Hiro, in New York five weeks in the future, discovers a disaster awaiting them all.

Hiro sets about proving to Ando that he is meant to save the world. Matt is questioned by FBI agent Audrey Hanson about suspected serial killer Sylar, who Mohinder learns had a connection with his dead father. Matt and Audrey confront Sylar but he gets away. In the desert, Niki discovers a mass grave which may be linked to her ex-husband. Peter tries to fly again but cannot; however, he and Simone grow closer. Claire is nearly raped and suffers a fatal head injury, but awakes to find herself undergoing an autopsy

Matt awakens, kidnapped by Mr. Bennet and a mysterious man who can block his powers. Claire escapes from the autopsy table. Peter finds and tries to convince Mohinder of Peter and Isaac's powers. Nathan goes to Las Vegas to raise campaign money from Linderman, who forces Niki to seduce Nathan. Hiro's plan backfires when Ando has him use his powers to cheat in Vegas. Isaac paints more trouble for everyone, including Claire, who takes extreme measures to stop Brody from hurting anyone else. Peter meets a messenger from the future.

Matt secretly uses his mind-reading ability to anticipate his wife's needs. Confused after losing track of another block of time, Niki finds the police on her doorstep, searching for her fugitive husband D.L. Hawkins. Claire confesses to her father. Hiro and Ando get jumped by some Vegas high-rollers. Peter receives a life-changing message from an unlikely source. Dismayed by recent events, Mohinder makes plans to return to India to lay both his father’s remains and his research to rest.

Hiro and Ando try to continue their journey to New York, when they are stopped by the Vegas high-roller who gave them trouble before. He offers them a deal they can't refuse. Then, after failing to act like a "superhero" when faced with danger, Hiro questions his heroism. As Mr. Bennet sets up a meeting for his daughter Claire with her biological parents, she hopes that questions about her newfound abilities can be answered. Meanwhile, Isaac receives another confusing call from Hiro, but Peter is there this time to pick up the phone and relay a life-saving message. Mohinder bids farewell to Eden as he heads back to India to spread his father's ashes. D.L. Hawkins shows up at Niki's home. Mr. Bennet is disturbed by news from one of his associates.

Facing a crisis involving her son, Micah, a distraught Niki reveals her recent personal struggles to a friend. Pushing aside his own issues at home, Matt assists Audrey's investigation into another bizarre murder, but their pursuit of mysterious serial killer Sylar takes an unexpected turn. A new character is introduced. Hiro is given yet another opportunity to save someone. Nathan and his wife, Heidi (guest star Rena Sofer), strategize how to win the congressional election. Claire is shocked to learn where her missing tape wound up. Determined to see one of Isaac's paintings that Simone recently sold, Peter asks Nathan for help in finding a key to the future. 
Mohinder meets a strange boy in his dreams. "Seven Minutes to Midnight" November 13, 2006 108 08
Back in India to mourn the passing of his father, Mohinder encounters mysterious dreams of the past that force him to question what path to take next. Continuing their journey to New York, Hiro and Ando stop at a diner and meet someone interesting. Intent on getting back to her normal life, Claire focuses on Homecoming preparations, unaware of what's to come. Meanwhile, Mr. Bennet and a surprising associate focus their attentions on another "hero."

As Mr. Bennet tries to protect his daughter by any means, Claire's high school homecoming turns into a frightening night. Meanwhile, Nathan and Simone work together to find Isaac's painting for Peter. But could this key to the future lead to tragedy? Elsewhere, Hiro travels back in time to right an upsetting wrong. As Niki puts a goal in sight, Micah spends time with his dad. Still experiencing strange dreams while in India, Mohinder learns of a boy that might pull him back into his father's research.

As the clock turns back six months for all of the "Heroes," Mohinder's father, Chandra Suresh (guest star Erick Avari), arrives in New York to begin his quest to find individuals with extraordinary abilities, and meets someone all too eager to be special. Peter celebrates his graduation from nursing school and learns that Nathan plans to prosecute a case that could mean trouble for the entire Petrelli family. A surprise visit from her father brings out the worst in Niki. Hiro attempts to be a hero and change the future for someone important. Claire joins the cheerleading squad and makes a curious discovery. Mr. Bennet and the Haitian meet someone special.

The tragic events in Texas have sad, serious repercussions for many of the "heroes," their families and friends. Meanwhile, shocking details about the moments leading up to Issac's predicted New York City nuclear bombing are revealed. Later, Isaac's newest painting has fascinating future implications for a hero in crisis. Mohinder takes the first steps along his new path. Matt and FBI Agent Audrey Hanson pursue a break in the Sylar case. Horrified by Jessica's recent actions, Niki makes a tough decision to protect her family. One hero does not survive the episode.

Some of the cliffhangers from the last episode are resolved. Claude, a new British hero, is introduced. Claude will offer a different view of the recent changes that have happened in the human evolutionary process and meet Peter Petrelli.
