[edit] Andrei Sergeivich Kalinin

Kalinin

Andrei Sergeivich Kalinin is Sagara's commanding officer and one of Tessa's military strategists. He is also the foster father of Sagara. He and Sousuke were once enemies, as mentioned in a two part episode by Sagara himself. The foster father status may be on the school's official papers only but Kalinin is certainly a very fatherly figure to Sagara. Kalinin was formerly of the Soviet special forces - Spetsnaz - and was the leader of the team that found a crashed Japanese airliner. There was only one survivor: a three year-old child by the name of Sagara Sousuke. His wife is deceased [1] and the whereabouts and status of the rest of his family is unknown. His voice was provided by Akio Otsuka in the original anime, and by Mike Kleinhenz in the English dub by ADV Films. There is speculation that Kalinin has betrayed Mithril to Amalgam, due to his meeting with Leonard Testarossa at the end of the book Dancing Very Merry Christmas and also due to his mysterious disappearance and attitude during the raid by Amalgam on Merida Island.

[edit] Richard Mardukas

Mardukas

Richard Mardukas is an overly protective aide of Tessa's who insists on guarding her with his life. He holds the rank of Commander and is in charge of Mithril's TDD-1 when the Captain, Testarossa, is not on board; appropriate, given that Mardukas' position is that of Executive Officer. Mardukas is often seen wearing a hat bearing the name of the HMS Turbulent (S87), a real British submarine.

Prior to joining Mithril, Mardukas was the Commanding Officer of the HMS Turbulent, and a graduate of the Royal Navy's "Perisher" course: the submarine equivalent to the US Navy's famed "Top Gun" Fighter Weapons School. According to the FMP novel A Dancing Very Merry Christmas, Mardukas and the Turbulent saved Tessa's father and his submarine on a secret mission. Many of his peers in the submarine community, such as Commander Killy B. Seila, CO of the USS Pasadena, believe Mardukas to be working in a shipping firm after his retirement. He was portrayed by Tomomichi Nishimura in the original anime, and by Andy McAvin in the English dub by ADV Films.

[edit] Leonard Testarossa

Leonard

(Amalgam Codename: Mr Silver) A child prodigy and Whispered like his younger sister, Leonard Testarossa is known as "Mr. Silver" in the executive circle of the Amalgam organization. However, he surpasses his sister in both knowledge and physical prowess, even defeating the ARX-7 Arbalest piloted by Sousuke[2]. He also claims to be in love with Kaname Chidori, and has earned her contempt by stealing her first kiss. [3] In The Second Raid he is chaperoned by two miniature ASs. It is speculated that the whispered knowledge inside of him has allowed the creation of the Venom type AS types (as Bunny Murata was to the Arbalest) as well as the miniature Alastor types. In the novel, Continuing on My Own, he is seen piloting the near invincible Belial type AS, and shows the strength of the machine and himself as a pilot by completely obliterating the Arbalest and Sousuke.

[edit] Kyoko Tokiwa

Kyoko Tokiwa (常盤恭子 Tokiwa Kyōko) is Chidori's camera-toting best friend. She is constantly trying to bring Chidori and Sagara together, however impossible it may seem given Sagara's tendency to blow things up at whim. However, in the novel 'Continuing On My Own', she was held hostage by Amalgam's agents as bait to lure Sousuke so they could kill him & find Kaname. She was seriously injured during the rescue attempt & is currently still recovering in the hospital. Kyoko's voice was provided by Ikue Kimura in the original anime, and by Monica Rial in the English dub by ADV Films.

[edit] Shinji Kazama

Shinji Kazama (風間信二 Kazama Shinji) is Sosuke's Arm Slave loving classmate. He shares the same amount of passion to AS as Sousuke and could be considered Sousuke's best school friend besides Kaname. His father is Shintaro Kazama and a secretary of Narashino's Assault Machine Troop, his love for AS began when his dad failed to become an AS pilot. As a result of his father's failure, Shinji strives to discover the result of the failure and to fulfill his father's dream of becoming a pilot. Shinji was portrayed by Mamiko Noto in the original anime and by Greg Ayres in the English dub by ADV Films.

[edit] Mizuki Inaba

(稲葉瑞樹 Inaba Mizuki) A classmate of Chidori who initially blames her for having stolen her boyfriend. She becomes one of her closer friends later on in the story. Mizuki's voice was provided by Sayuri Yoshida in the original anime, and by Mandy Clark in the English dub by ADV Films.

[edit] Gauron

(Amalgam Codename: Mr Iron) While little is known about Gauron at the present, he is Sousuke’s strongest and most formidable enemy throughout the TV series. He’s a terrorist of the highest caliber sponsored by a mysterious organization, but little is known about Gauron’s benefactors other than the fact that they appear to be more formidable and possess greater resources than even the notorious Soviet KGB. Believed to be Japanese, or at least of Asian ethnicity (presumably Cambodian, as Gauron mentions being a child soldier with the Khmer Rouge), Gauron and Sousuke have a long and bloodstained history together. He was once a captian in Mithril( As seen during once of his As's boot-up sequances.) although he left before all the major charecters entered. Sousuke left a big scar on Gauron’s forehead when he and then Soviet Spetsnaz commander Major Kalinin ambushed Gauron in a sniper attack back in Sousuke’s Afghan guerrilla days. This is but one of many battle scars Sousuke inflicts upon this vicious manslayer over the course of the series.

A formidable AS pilot of tremendous talent, Gauron's dangerous Codarl AS has bested Mithril's frontline AS, the M9 Gernsback, in battle on several occasions. Even Sousuke and his ARX-7 Arbalest have great difficulty competing against Gauron's fearsome skill in their many confrontations across the course of the series.

He also appears to have a nearly supernatural ability to survive certain death, including the destruction of his AS, and the sniper attack. The Sniper Attack was explained with a metal plate in his skull, and his survival of his AS' self-destruct was explained with Gauron using the Lambda Driver at the last moment to protect his body.

A possible explanation for Gauron not fearing death, even in the face of his AS self destructing is revealed by Leonard Testarossa in the book Continuing on My Own who tells Sousuke that Gauron was suffering from cancer.

It is later revealed in "The Second Raid" that Gauron worked for Amalgam, his code name being "Mr. Iron" [4].

In "The Second Raid", it is revealed that Gauron is alive, presumably through the Lambda Driver. He reveals to Sagara that the young guerrilla Sagara he knew in Helmajistan would have been the perfect person to kill him, but in the present day, he claims that Sagara has become 'weak' and 'soft' from his time at High School. He tells Sagara that one of his agents, one of the twins mentioned below, has killed Kaname, when in truth, Leonard Testarossa's Arm Slave bodyguards killed the agent. He had previously trained two twin sisters, who he named Yu-fan, and Yui-Lan. They are both formidable fighters, in an Arm Slave, (a Soviet/Amalgam Shadow at the beginning of the series, and a Venom in the end.) They do not survive the series, Yu-Lan being killed by Leonard Testarossa's bodyguards and Yui-Fan being killed by the psychotic leader of the Amalgam Execution Squad, Gates in the final battle.

[edit] Mr Gold

Very little is known about this mysterious character as of yet, but it is assumed he is the leader of Amalgam. He activated Captain Harris as an agent of Amalgam aboard the ship the Dancing Chrysallis. He also gave Harris the order to deploy the Alastors aboard the ship.

[edit] Admiral Borda

The leader of Mithril's Operations department. He was the one to order Sousuke to give up his position as a high school student at Jindai High in The Second Raid and the book The End by Day by Day. He is presumed dead after an explosion racked through Operations Headquarters in Sydney following the beginning of Amalgam's attack on Mithril

[edit] General Amitt

The leader of Mithril's Intelligence department. He was the one to order Wraith to discretely observe and passively protect Kaname Chidori.

[edit] Wraith

An ex-North Korean spy, who is also a master of disguise. As a member of the intelligence department, she was ordered to watch Kaname Chidori and protect her from series threats. Although appearing cold at first, following her 'rescue' by Kaname Chidori from Leonard Testarossa, she has opened up slightly and secretely meets with Chidori. She also saved Sousuke and Tokiwa's lives from Amalgam members on the Jindai High School rooftop and aided in the diffusion of the bomb planted on Tokiwa. She even went as far to perform emergency surgery on Tokiwa after a piece of shrapnel embedded itself inside her diaphragm and then took her to the hospital. Showing further compassion, she also allowed Kaname Chidori to give herself up to Leonard so Sousuke's life would be spared, despite violating her orders. Her current status is unknown, she was last seen still helping Mithril, setting up a deal for a new prototype AS at the end of the novel 'Burning One Man Force'. She has hinted that she may take Chidori's advice to heart and become an actor.

[edit] Belfangan Clouseaux

SRT team's current team leader, callsign SRT-1, 1st appearance in the novel 'End of Day By Days' & the 2nd anime series Full Metal Panic: The Second Raid, replacing Gail McAllen after his death near the end of the of the novel 'Rocking into The Blue'(and subsequently, the 1st anime series). His 1st introduction into the team was kind of unorthodox, ticking off Kurz Weber & Sousuke Sagara by saying Lieutenant McAllen a coward after sitting on da chair he used 2 sit in(when actually McAllen was 1 of his most trusted teammates & a good friend). Proved himself to be an expert martial artist by incapicitating Kurz with just 1 move & defeated Sousuke & the Arbalest during the 'test' which he conducted & also a capable leader when he made Sousuke understand why he lost(it wasn't his skill as they were actually evenly matched in that aspect but rather his hatred for the Arbalest). Since then Kurz & him don't really see eye-to-eye, though they have developed a grudging respect for each other's abilities. He was also 1 of the few remaining survivors of the attack on Melida island, along with Melissa Mao, Kurz Weber, Richard Mardukas, Teletha Testarossa & most of the crew of the Tualtha de Danaan at the end of the novel 'Continuing on My Own'.
