List of Final Fantasy locations
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This list refers to the first game of the Final Fantasy series. Final Fantasy was the first in Square Co., Ltd.'s Final Fantasy series and is also known as Final Fantasy I. Note that some of the locations had their names changed in the game's remake of Final Fantasy Origins and Final Fantasy I & II: Dawn of Souls.
[edit] Original game locations
[edit] Cardia Islands/Dragon Caves
An innocent-looking archipelago in the northwest region of the world. Beneath the islands are caves in which dwell a race of dragons who are ruled by their king, Bahamut. Bahamut is willing to grant power to any warriors skilled and courageous enough to brave the Citadel of Trials.
[edit] Castle Cornelia (Castle Coneria)
Castle Conelia is very close to the player's starting point inside the village walls of Conelia and conveniently located just a short walk from the Temple of Fiends. A bridge provides easy access to Pravoka, while a port to the south makes casual ocean jaunts smooth sailing all the way. Amenities include secure storage of valuables under lock and Mystic Key and a throne right off the master bedroom. Warriors travelling on a budget will be pleased to know that the nearby inn is the most affordable in the world.
[edit] Cavern of Earth
South of Melmond, this cave is home to a vicious Vampire. With the aid of the Earth Rod, one can travel deeper into the cavern and find the Earth Crystal, recently corrupted by Lich, the Earth Fiend.
[edit] Citadel of Trials (Castle of Ordeals)
From the overworld map, it appears as a stand-alone castle nowhere near any other locations. After venturing through this dungeon, the player will obtain the key item; 'Rat's Tail'. This item allows the party to proceed with 'Class Change', which makes the party of warriors stronger, by taking it back to Bahamut. The 'Crown' (Key item) is required to gain access to this dungeon.
[edit] Cornelia (Coneria)
Coneria is a town located next to Castle Coneria. It is the player's starting point. Many players return here frequently because of the inexpensive inn. In Final Fantasy Origins, it is named Cornelia.
[edit] Crescent Lake (Crescent Town)
A small, unassuming town in the southeast corner of the map. Here can be found the Circle of Sages, a group of 12 sages, most notably, a man named Lukahn. They hold valuable information pertaining to Chaos and the Four Fiends.
[edit] Elfheim (Elfein, Elfland)
A town of elves living south of Cornelia. Their prince has recently been placed under a curse by the dark elf, Astos and is caught in an unending sleep.
[edit] Flying Fortress (Floating Castle)
One of the Lufenians' legacies, an abandoned fortress still airborne. Home of Tiamat (the Wind Fiend) and the Wind Crystal. This castle is accessible only by using the Warp Cube on top of the Mirage Tower. Inside, one can expect to find many friendly robots, whose purpose was lost long ago. There is also a viewing orb that reveals a twist in the storyline; energy is flowing out each place the party has faced a fiend all over the world, and going to one location: Temple of Fiends. The very top floor, where Tiamat lurks, is also patrolled by the War Mech, the game's most fearsome random encounter and more difficult than Chaos himself.
[edit] Gaia
A small town to the northeast. The faeries who live in the spring there are said to possess the mythical "oxyale," an item that allows humans to breathe underwater.
[edit] Giant's Cave (Titan's Tunnel)
In a cave west of Melmond lives a giant/titan with a taste for rubies. Leads to Sarda's Cave.
[edit] Ice Cavern
An ice-filled cave northwest of Crescent Lake. There is rumored to be a great and wondrous treasure hidden within.
[edit] Lufenia (Lufein, Lefein)
Located on the eastern edge of the map, this town is home to the descendants of the once-prosperous Sky People. Although they are no longer a technologically advanced people, they supposedly hold the key to the Wind Shrine. The Lufenians speak a strange, ancient language that cannot be understood without finding a means of translation. In Final Fantasy I & II: Dawn of Souls, the town's name is translated as Lufenia.
[edit] Marsh Cave
A small, monster-filled cave west of Elfheim. The king of the Western Keep claims that Astos took his crown here.
[edit] Matoya's Cave
North of Conelia, an old, eccentric witch lives alone in the cave with her staff of magically enchanted brooms. She had recently been robbed by Astos, the dark elf and lost her crystal ball (her only means of seeing). She is the only one capable of making the potion to lift the curse on Elfheim's Prince and will gladly do so in exchange for her crystal ball's return. This is a mandatory step in curing the Elf Prince.
[edit] Melmond
A town west of Cornelia and the one closest to the Earth Shrine. Home of Dr. Unne. Due to its proximity, it is the first to feel the effects of the rotting earth. What's worse, the townspeople claim that a Vampire lurks nearby, and the clinic and item shop have been destroyed, forcing players to divert to another town to revive fallen characters or stock up on items.
[edit] Mt. Duergar/Dwarf Cave
Northwest of Elfheim lives a small community of dwarves. They are skilled with explosives and some of the finest weaponsmiths in the world.
[edit] Mt. Gulg (Gulg Volcano, Gurgu Volcano)
Gulg Volcano is in active volcano, the home of the Crystal of Fire, as well as the nest of the Fire Fiend, Malirith (a.k.a Kary). In the story, the Warriors of Light must infiltrate the volcano, destroy Marilith and restore the Crystal of Fire to grace. Marilith is the second of four fiends the Light Warriors must defeat to save the world.
[edit] Onlak (Onrac)
This seemingly unremarkable town is home to the world's only submarine and it is the only way to reach the Sunken Shrine.
[edit] Pravoka (Pravoca)
Pravoka is an important town located northeast of Castle Coneria. Bikke the Pirate initially controls the town, although he will relinquish it (and his ship) to whoever can defeat his nine pirates.
[edit] Ryukahn Desert
South of Cresent Lake, this plain-looking desert is rumored to be hiding one of the Sky People's greatest technological achievements. No one, however, has managed to figure out how to call it forth.
[edit] Sarda's Cave/Sadda's Cave
West of Melmond, beyond the Giant's Cave, lives an old sage named Sarda. He holds the key to the Earth crystal and awaits the coming of the Warriors of Light.
[edit] Sunken Shrine (Sea Shrine)
The shrine, in the water beneath Onrac, is home to a group of mermaids, the water crystal and, more recently, the Water Fiend, Kraken.
[edit] Temple of Fiends/Temple of Chaos (Temple of Fiends)
At the beginning of the game, it is merely some ancient ruins that consist of one floor. Garland, alongside his hostage Princess Sara, are found here. Nothing about this temple is as it seems, as is revealed later that it draws energy from the Four Fiends of Chaos. The temple was used by Chaos 2,000 years in the past when he released the Four Fiends into the world. Also lingering in the temple are some defeated sky warriors, having been transformed into bats. The temple exists in the far past as an intact structure with a myriad of floors. Coneria is the nearest town. In Final Fantasy Origins, it is known as the Temple of Chaos.
[edit] Tower of Mirage (Mirage Tower)
Built by the sky people as a gateway to the Floating Fortress, the Mirage Tower cannot be seen without the aid of an ancient artifact. Any who hope to reach the Floating Fortress must retrieve the Chime, find the Warp Cube and defeat the dragon guarding the tower's roof.
[edit] Western Keep
Northwest of Elfheim, this castle is deserted by all but its ruined king, who begs the party to retrieve for him the crown lost somewhere in the marshes. When presented with the crown, the King is revealed to be the Dark Elf Astos in disguise, and attacks.

In a cave just northwest of Cornelia, this mysterious dungeon becomes unsealed once Lich is defeated and the Earth Crystal is restored. Guarding the exit are monsters from Final Fantasy III.
[edit] Hellfire Chasm
Amongst the Dragon Caves in the Cardia Islands, this strange dungeon is unblocked once Kary/Marilith and the Fire Crystal are dealt with in Mt. Gulg. It is guarded by the four elemental fiends from Final Fantasy IV.

This underwater dungeon becomes available once Kraken is defeated and the Water Crystal is restored. Awaiting at the exit are enemies from Final Fantasy V.
[edit] Whisperwind Cove
This highly complex dungeon, consisting of a series of quirky towns, is accessible after cleansing the Wind Crystal of Tiamat's presence. Waiting at the end are enemies from Final Fantasy VI.
