[edit] Main Characters (Original Version)

[edit] Warriors of the Light

The Onion Knight

In the Famicom version of Final Fantasy III, the playable characters are four young men who are granted special powers from the Light Crystals to take up the Quest of Light. The four are orphans who are raised at the remote village of Ur by the priest, Topapa. When the Wind Crystal sinks to the earth due to an earthquake one day, the four, dressed as Onion Knights, go to investigate. They manage to get lost, but eventually stumble upon the Crystal. The Crystal tells them of Xande's plans to conquer the world using Darkness, which could upset the balance of Light and Dark and lead to detrimental effects. It proceeds to bestow the Legendary Job Classes upon the four. From there on, the four become Warriors of the Light, and leave Ur in their quest. Granted the power of the Light, the Warriors begin to combat the darkness that increasingly consumes the world. As the other Crystals they encounter provide them more Jobs, the four become a formidable party to deal with.

[edit] Main Characters (DS Remake)

The remake of the game for the Nintendo DS handheld features a new set of party members, each with new background stories and personalities.

Luneth

[edit] Luneth

Luneth (ルーネス Rūnesu?) is an orphan who was raised at the remote village of Ur by the priest, Topapa. When the Wind Crystal sinks to the earth due to an earthquake one day, Luneth goes to investigate. He manages to get lost, but eventually stumbles upon the Crystal. The Crystal tells him of his identity as one of the chosen Warriors of the Light, and his duty to gather three other individuals who share his destiny to save the world. Thus, Luneth sets out on his journey. Curious, positive, and clever, Luneth would demonstrate his ability to support others during times of crisis. Keeper of the light of courage, he is brave in speech, but there are times he will regret what he says. Even so, he is always responsible for what comes out of his mouth, and would fight until the end to deliver his promises. Also a great mood maker who can cheer up others, Luneth serves as the bona fide leader of the party.

Arc

[edit] Arc

Arc (アルクゥ Arukū?) is Luneth's childhood friend, and is also raised by Topapa. He is a timid type who is frequently picked on by other children. In order to make others think better of him, he accompanies Luneth on his journey. Keeper of the light of kindness, Arc prefers to read books at home rather than play outside, and as such, his broad knowledge is acknowledged by everyone. Throughout his journey, he gains more confidence with the help of his friends, and becomes good friends with Prince/King Allus, even going so far as to stand up for him against three knights.

Refia

[edit] Refia

Refia (レフィア?) was raised by the Kazus village blacksmith, Takka. She became tired of her strict blacksmith training and often runs away from home. She stumbles upon Luneth and Arc on Cid's Airship, which she helped build, when Kazus became affected by Djinn's curse, and decides to join them. Keeper of the light of affection, Refia has a cheerful and active personality, and tends to force her opinions on others. Therefore, she is frequently at odds with Luneth, but she loves him like any friend. She becomes one of Desch's best friends during their journey together, and tries to help reunite him with his girlfriend in Canaan. Apparently, she also hates toads and anyone who would harm others. Nevertheless, underneath this cover, she is a good-hearted and confident individual.

Ingus

[edit] Ingus

Ingus (イングズ Inguzu?) is a soldier serving the King of Sasune. As the only individual in the castle not affected by Djinn's curse, Ingus joins up with Luneth and the rest in order to break the curse and return Princess Sara to the castle safely. Keeper of the light of determination, and brave and skilled individual, he acts as the calm elder brother in the party of four, especially towards Luneth, straightening him out when he gets out of line. He's the somewhat stereotypical knight, frequently playing the gentleman and tactical expert.

Cid also reveals that he was the one who saved the four main characters after an airship he was piloting crashed about 10 years ago. Apparantly, he also served under king Gorn as the master airship engineer, but was lost in the floating continent when his airhsip got caught in the darkness

He uses his newfound knowledge to sacrifice himself and save the Warriors of Light. Later, he returns to aid the heroes in their plight against the Cloud of Darkness. [edit] Gutsco the Rogue

Gutsco (グツコー Gutsukō?) is a thief with one wing (much like Sephiroth), though in the DS Remake, he was given a second wing. He notoriously steals from the dwarves. Upon hearing this, the Heroes agree to stop the madman. After a battle, he hides as a shadow of the Warriors of the Light. As they return to the dwarves, he reappears and steals the horns with the power of ice. He uses them to gain entrance to the Fire Cavern, where he attempts to gain the power of the Fire Crystal. Before he is able to, the Heroes attack him. He morphs into a giant salamander, but is inevitably destroyed.

[edit] Salina

A young girl living in Canaan, she fell in love with the mysterious Desch and has been laying in her bed, awaiting his return ever since he left.

[edit] Four Old Men
