[edit] Personnel
This section describes all types of WEC military units the Silencer is likely to encounter on the various levels of the Crusader games.
[edit] Security guards (SecCart)
Security guards are members of WEC Security Cartel (SecCart) who are assigned to patrol and protect the low keys installations of the WEC infrastructure. They are poorly trained and equipped and will not put up much of a fight against determined intruders. Some guards are even conscripts, who may not even believe in the ideals of what they are supposed to be fighting for. Guards wear gray uniforms and white helmets that cover their whole heads. Their equipment does not include any form of personal shield generator and their standard issue weapon is a BA-40 pistol. On rare occasion security guards on duty to some sensitive location of a facility, or who prove themselves on their way to being promoted to a new level of training are issued with a PA-21 laser pistol. This type of enemy personnel appears only in No Remorse. In accordance with the gradual upgrade of basic SecCart forces, guards are beginning to be better trained and equipped.
[edit] LMC security guards (SecCart) (*)
The Lunar Mining Cartel runs one of the most critical facilities in the WEC; because of this, their security has always been a little tighter than WEC standards. These forces are professionals who have been through a more extensive training and are better equipped; unlike other guards, they are never conscripts, always volunteers. They wear blue uniforms with black armor and helmet and white trim. They are issued RP-32 assault rifles as standard weapons, or sometimes SG-A1s. Some of the more promising LMC guards are also trained as grenadiers and are accordingly equipped with anti-personnel grenades. Due to the success these guards have shown in keeping the prisoner population in line, and due to the number of Resistance incursions against their installations, SecCart has begun to upgrade its mainline guards. However, so far upgraded security forces have been only been deployed on WEC cargo starships and on the LMC "Darkside" lunar base.
[edit] Soldiers (MilOps)
Soldiers are the purview of Military Operations, the cartel dedicated to actively destryoing Resistance bases and other rebels. They are to MilOps what security guards are to SecCart; however, sometimes MilOps will trade soldiers--particularly veterans--to SecCart for favors, such as increased security at certain SecCart facilities. This accounts for ostenbibly offensive-only troops being employed for security operations at WEC facilities. MilOps soldiers are also used to reinforce standard guards in low-key areas if such locations are suspected of being under the threat of Resistance attack. This approach is far less likely to draw undue attention from Resistance intelligence gatherers than if any of the Special Forces suddenly showed up. Soldiers are better trained than guards and can be recognized by their blue uniform paired with white helmet and bandolier. The standard issue weapon for the WEC soldiers is the RP-32 "Pacifist" rifle, but occasionally they can be issued a PA-21 laser pistol. This type of enemy personnel appears only in No Remorse.
[edit] Stormtroopers (Special Forces)
The WEC employs several distinct varieties of special forces units: among these Stormtroopers represent the lowest class deployed for security operations. Stormtroopers are usually draw from the ranks of successful guards or soldiers, though a few particularly promising academy students may be inducted to the stormtroopers right after graduation. They are highly trained and fiercely loyal, and will pose a significant threat to any Resistance interlopers. Stormtroopers wear black armor, with gray shoulder pauldrons and helmet visors, and orange trim. Their helmets completely obscure their faces. This uniform consists of a standard issue GyroNBC Plexsuit and heavy body armor, providing good protection against both conventional weapons and most forms of NBC (Nuclear-Biological-Chemical) attack. Stormtroopers generally use SG-A1 shotguns and, on occasion, PA-31 laser rifles.
[edit] Elite stormtroopers (Special Forces)
The elite stormtroopers can be distinguished from regular stormtroopers by the darker, almost sinister trim of their black uniforms and the red visors in their helmets. They are very deadly, quite loyal, and better equipped, given heavy armor and usually issued energy weapons like PA-31s and PL-1s. A small but significant number of elite stormtroopers are deployed as grenadiers and thus equipped with GL-303 grenade launchers or AR-7 rocket launchers.
[edit] Enforcers (Special Forces)
Enforcer represent the WEC's most treasured fighters. These soldiers have undergone extremely rigorous training, and are the best in the WEC military, short of the Silencers and the relatively small number of HQ elite guards. Each one is an investment of millions of credits' worth of training and equipment, making a significant blow against even the WEC's resources for each one killed. They wear brown combat uniforms with black and orange trim over an olive-green bodysuit. Their helmets are black, with blue-tinted face shields. This suit incorporates a personal plasma shield generator and NBC gear. Enforcers are usually encountered with UV-9 rifles or GL-303 grenade launchers. They are very confident, even arrogant, and are quite often encountered alone, rarely calling for reinforcement. In addition, their heavy weapons and armor make them surprisingly slow on the draw. A single skilled and agile soldier might be able to deal with one if heavy cover is nearby, but despite their penchant for working by themselves, they are excellent team players when allies are nearby.
[edit] Headquarters elite guard (SecCart) (*)
Members of the HQ elite guard are used to protect the most sensitive or critical WEC facilities. The elite guard are also used as bodyguards for VIPs, assigned in pairs; most other personnel requiring personal guards are given Enforers. Their combat uniform consist red armor with yellow shoulder pads over a pale blue bodysuit, with black boots. They have visors and what is presumably ear protection or a communications unit, but no helmets, perhaps to preserve peripheral vsion. The elite guards wield exceptionally heavy weaponry, like the UV-9 and sometimes the new LNR-81. They are generally considered deadlier than Enforcers, and though apparently just as cocky, the elite guard tends to work in groups, rather than solo as Enforcers so often choose, making them that much more dangerous.
[edit] Servomechs
Two different classes of mechs are empolyed by the WEC in their facilities. Armed servomechs are units serving as utility mechs which are also equipped with internal weapons. On the other hand anti-personnel platforms are mechs built explicitly for combat purposes and usually mount heavier weaponry and reinforced armor.
[edit] MS-110 "Android"
This mech is built with a human like appearance and is commonly used in many facilities as a maintenance mech. Because of its widespread use it has been fitted with dual weapons, thus enabling its use for security purposes as well. Usually "Androids" are equipped with dual RP-32s rifles or dual PA-31s laser rifles, but some use the PL-1 plasma gun.
[edit] MS-40 "Roaming Susan"
The MS-40 has been used as maintenance mech for many years, but it is now a very outdated model. Slow moving, unarmored, but still serviceable, "Roaming Susans" can mount a light weapon (such as a BA-40 pistol or a PA-21 laser pistol) for site defense by means of optional programming and hardware.
[edit] CS-35 "Roach"
CS-35s are small, wheeled mechs designed to carry messages and light cargo around a site. They have been equipped with an integral weapon mount only recently, since they can be used to patrol areas which are hard to reach by larger mechs such as aeration conduits and their likes. "Roaches" are often issued EM-4 rifles as weapon.
[edit] APP-4210 "Thermatron"
The lightest anti-personnel mech still in service, the Thermatron was the first of its class in general release. Its size is relatively small compared to newer APPs, with long mechanical legs which make its movements resemble those of an ostrich. Current models are equipped with an RP-32 gun mount, but optionally an AC-88 riot gun or a PA-31 can be fitted in the weapons slot of the Thermatron.
[edit] APP-4400 "Vetron"
The Vetron is a heavily armored APP and one of the most effective combat mechs in WEC service. It can sustain a lot of damage without losing efficiency and recently has been adopted by many WEC facilities. The APP-4400 has two weapons slots that can be fitted with AC-88s, PA-31s, PL-1s or even GL-303s. It's one of these mechs that ambushes and kills the Silencer team the Captain is part of.
[edit] APP-4450 "Avatron" (*)
A recently introduced mech, the Avatron combines light armor, good speed with a cheap price. These characteristics make it a good choice to provide a mech that falls between the armed maintenance servomech and the heavier APPs. Usually Avatrons mount dual PL-31s laser rifles.
[edit] APP-5100 "Cryotron" (*)
The first mech of a new, highly technological series to be released, the APP-5100 has been equipped with the BK-16 molecular inhibitor gun, granting significant firepower, though it is not heavily armored. The Cryotron can be easily distinguished from other mechs because of its compact build and gunmetal blue and white armor job.
[edit] APP-5200 "Solartron"
The Solartron is the heaviest mech ever produced to date. Its armor is almost twice stronger than that of the very diffused Vetron. However the most notable feature of the APP-5200 is that it mounts a dual UV-9 ultraviolet rifle. Some models of this yellow painted mech have been customized to use dual AR-7 rocket launchers.
[edit] APP-7200 "Cametron" (*)
Currently the Cametron is still in the prototype range and has been deployed for testing to a very few locations, such as the LMC "Darkside" station. Its major innovation is a radical new stealth technology: the Cametron can morph into certain mundane objects and lie waiting for a threat to make its presence known. To date, the APP-7200 is known to be able to morph into statues, drink machines, certain groups of crates, and computer terminals. The Cametron is armored comparably to a Vetron, but is quite slow, particularly when first morphing from its disguise. This mech universally uses the AC-88 riot gun.
