Canada has adopted the NTSC and ATSC television transmission standards without any alterations. However, some unique local variations exist for DTH television due to transponder design variation in the Anik series of satellites.

  • CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation). A national public network owned by the federal government broadcasting both in English and in Aboriginal languages in the territories and northern regions of Québec and Labrador.
  • CTV (Canadian Television), originally CTN (Canadian Television Network). A national private network (except for Newfoundland & Labrador and the 3 territories) owned by Bell GlobeMedia broadcasting in English.
  • Global. A national private network (except for Newfoundland & Labrador and the 3 territories) owned by CanWest Global broadcasting in English.
  • SRC (La Société Radio-Canada) or often just referred to as Radio-Canada. A national public network owned by the federal government broadcasting in French.

  • APTN, Aboriginal Peoples Television Network; shows focusing on or starring Aboriginals. It operates in several languages.
  • A-Channel, CHUM-owned system of smaller market stations in Ontario and British Columbia, formerly branded as NewNet. The A-Channel brand was purchased from Craig Media in 2004, and was previously used on the Calgary, Edmonton and Winnipeg stations now branded as Citytv.
  • CH, which consists of five local stations owned by Global in Hamilton, Montreal, Victoria, Kelowna and Red Deer with one private affiliate in Kamloops.
  • Citytv, stations in Toronto, Winnipeg, Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver. Part of the CHUM network.
  • CTV Atlantic, a mini-network owned and operated by CTV, airing its complete schedule in New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Nova Scotia on its stations. Although this mini network and CTV Northern Ontario are apart of the CTV network itself, they are not independent networks such as CH or A-Channel for example. It was formerly named "ATV" (Atlantic Television), changing its name on October 11, 2005.
  • CTV Northern Ontario, a mini network owned and operated by CTV, basically the same as CTV Atlantic, only in Northern Ontario.
  • Great West Television, a mini-network owned by three private CBC Television affiliates in British Columbia.
  • TQS, Québec-based French-language network owned by Bell Globemedia and Cogeco.
  • TVA, Québec-based French-language network carried nationwide on cable, owned by Quebecor Media Inc.

  • CFTU, better known as Canal Savoir - privately owned and operated by the Université de Montréal. Broadcasts educational programming in Montreal, but is available on cable throughout the province.
  • CJON, better known as NTV - a private television station in Newfoundland & Labrador.
  • CKXT, better known as SUN TV - newest station in Toronto. Owned by TVA and Sun Media.

  • CJNT, better known as CH Montréal - multicultural station in Montréal branded as a CH station.

  • OMNI Television, a pair of multicultural television stations in Toronto owned by Rogers Communications.

  • CJIL better known as The Miracle Channel - Alberta-based Christian station.
  • OMNI Television, a pair of religious television stations in BC and Manitoba owned by Rogers Communications.
    • CHNU, better known as OMNI.10 - Christian - themed station in the Vancouver area. Previously known as NOWTV.
    • CIIT, better known as OMNI.11 - Christian themed station in Winnipeg.
