The list below includes most Canadian specialty channels, premium television services, and most other channels not available via terrestrial television. By design it does not include community channels or most services exempted from CRTC licensing.

Dual status channels, if offered, must be carried on the basic service unless the service's operator and the applicable cable or satellite television provider agree otherwise, other than CPAC which is essentially a mandatory basic-cable service. There are exceptions for smaller cable operators.

In Atlantic Canada, Atlantic Satellite Network is also a standard basic cable service.

Teleshopping channels such as The Shopping Channel (national), ShopTV Canada (southern Ontario), Shopping TVA and TATV (Quebec) are exempt from licensing but are available through most cable and satellite providers.

TVA is generally treated like a basic-service specialty channel in English Canada; the CRTC requires its carriage in most areas nationwide.

  • Aboriginal Peoples Television Network (APTN), which carries programming in English, French and aboriginal languages, is also required to be carried on the basic service in most areas.
