List of British weapon L numbers

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is a listing of British Army Weapons identified by their L number (L standing for Land service). The L number alone is not a unique identifier, for instance there is an L11 automatic pistol, machine gun and tank gun. Rather, it is used in conjunction with a weapon description eg "Rifle, 7.62mm, L1A1". Use of L numbers starts in the 1950s and an equivalent system for military vehicles is the FV series (fighting vehicle).
