[edit] Kayin Amoh
Kayin Amoh is a fictional, playable character in the Battle Arena Toshinden video game series, and the best friend of main protagonist Eiji Shinjo. Kayin is described as a bounty hunter, though his country of origin has changed a few times. He is described initially as Scottish, and later, British. His family in either version is descended from one of King Arthur's knights, hence his use of the sword Excalibur.
Kayin was trained along with Eiji by Eiji's brother Sho Shinjo, until Sho disappeared one day. Since then, Eiji and Kayin have continued to be the best of friends, but also rivals. This friendship was nearly shattered when Kayin heard of his father's murder at the hands of Sho, for unknown reasons (possibly Kayin's father had been a target of the infamous Himitsu Kessha Organization, ran by the ruthless Master, and Uranus.
For a while, Kayin left Eiji and went his separate ways, but they met again at the second Toshindaibukai. Kayin was defeated by Eiji, and so he never got to face off against his sworn enemy, Sho.
Just before the third Toshindaibukai, Kayin rescued a little girl named Naru and adopted her, training her in the ways of the sword. Kayin and Naru entered the third tournament together, but were both knocked out.
It is unknown what happened to Kayin afterwards.
On a minor note, Kayin has been stated to be Scottish, and later British. But in reality, Kayin is an American Action Hero, as he fights in New York and speaks with a strong American accent. He has been stated to be British in order for Takara to avoid conflicts with Capcom, who created a character named Ken Masters (an American Action Hero with long blonde hair) who came before Kayin.
[edit] Chaos
Chaos is a fictional playable character from the second two installments in the video game series. He is from Sri Lanka, and a bodyguard for the ruthless Himitsu Kessha Organization, along with his friends Mondo and Fo.
After the rogue bodyguard Gaia illegally held the first Toshindaibukai, Chaos was sent by the Himitsu Kessha leaders Master and Uranus to murder Gaia, who was now a death mark. Chaos arrived at the scene just as Gaia was doing battle with a Japanese Warrior named Eiji Shinjo. Knowing that Uranus was on his tail, Gaia fled, leaving a frustrated Chaos in his wake.
However, during the second Toshindaibukai, which had been held as a trap for Gaia and which Gaia had entered to kill Uranus as revenge for the deaths of his wife and son, Chaos encountered Gaia once again. With nothing holding him back, Chaos and Gaia dueled outside the tower leading to the core of the Himitsu Kessha Quarters. Chaos was slain in the ensuing battle.
Chaos appears in Battle Arena Toshinden 3, but this appearance is considered to be Non-Canon, as Chaos was killed by Gaia during the events of Battle Arena Toshinden 2.
[edit] Ellis
Ellis is a fictional playable character in the first three installments of the video game series. Although the games state Ellis to be Turkish, she is actually Japanese, although this is not revealed until the second game.
A close friend of Eiji Shinjo and Kayin Amoh, Ellis is a fighter skilled in the art of the Twin Dirk Daggers, and also a circus performer. She was raised in an orphanage in Turkey, told that her parents and brother had been killed in a car crash. Ellis, after reaching the age of 16, moved to Japan where she would meet and eventually develop an unreturned crush on Eiji, who was bitter at the sudden disappearance of his brother and mentor, Sho.
Along with Eiji and his friend Kayin, Ellis entered the first Toshindaibukai in order to test her fighting skills, but she, along with all the other participating fighters, discovered that the tournament had been held illegally by a man named Gaia, whom Eiji had been battling at the time. Furious at Gaia for deceiving her and everyone else like that, Ellis returned home with Eiji and Kayin.
However, two years later, Ellis received a letter from Gaia, who was calling for help. To her horror, the letter revealed that Gaia was actually her Father (similar to the Luke Skywalker/Darth Vader situation) and that she and Gaia were the only ones to survive the car crash sixteen years ago. It also revealed that Ellis was actually Japanese and not Turkish. It seemed that Gaia had been targeted for death by the Himitsu Kessha Organization for holding the first Toshindaibukai, and that he needed help if he was to avenge the deaths of his wife and son, who had been killed when it was actually Uranus who had caused the fatal car accident.
Fighting her hatred, Ellis entered the second Toshindaibukai, and encountered a man named Rungo Iron, who claimed to be a friend of Gaia's and had also received a call for help. Eventually reuniting with her father, Ellis fought in the tournament, but was knocked out by a Chinese Magician named Fo Fai, leaving Gaia and Rungo to fight along with their new ally: Eiji.
Ellis eventually heard that Uranus had been slain before Gaia and Rungo could reach her, and Gaia came home to Ellis, to start a family life together.
For entertainment, Ellis, Gaia, Rungo, along with Eiji and Kayin, entered the third Toshindaibukai. But Rungo and Gaia had been targeted by Himitsu Kessha assassins: Tau, an Indian Giant; and Adam, a robot Rungo's size. Ellis was encountered by another assassin named Atahua, an Indian Boy. Ellis fought Atahua with all her might, but when Tau showed up and claimed that he had forfeited his match against Gaia, Atahua abandoned his fight with Ellis, understanding now that fighting was pointless. Ellis and Gaia bid farewell to Tau and Atahua, and left the tournament.
Since then, Ellis and Gaia did not fight ever again, retiring from the sport for good.
[edit] Fo Fai
Fo Fai is a playable character on the first two games of the series. He is a Chinese Magician who uses his Iron Claws as his primary weapons. Although he may not look it, being 106 years old, Fo's heart is as black as the night, and takes the ultimate pleasure in the suffering and killing of others, especially Eiji, Kayin and Ellis.
For reasons unknown, Fo, and his friend and fellow assassin Mondo, entered the first two Toshindaibukai tournaments hosted by the Himitsu Kessha Organization. Fo was knocked out by Kayin Amoh, and Mondo was knocked out by Eiji Shinjo, who eventually killed Mondo.
Fo does not feature on Toshinden 3, having died of old age. His role as Iron Claw wielder is passed on to the newcomer Bayhou, a humanoid ape.
Fo Fai is prominent in the series for being not only the oldest character, but also one of the most bloodthisrty, and perhaps the most sinister (since he appears as a kindly old man to most).
[edit] Gaia
[edit] Biographical Information
- Full Name: Gaia
- Name Meaning: Devil Warrior
- Nationality: Japanese
- Age: 40+
- Height: 7 feet (12 feet with his armour)
- Weight: 201 pounds (221 pounds with his armour)
- Blood Type: O
- Known Relatives:
-
- Ellis, daughter
- Kaede, wife (deceased)
- Son (deceased)
- Weapon: Oversized broadsword
- Alternate Costume: Blue Armour instead of Red
[edit] Description
In the first Toshinden, Gaia was the monstrous final boss (except on the harder difficulty settings where Sho was fought if the player beat every other character without losing). Wearing his armour, he took on the appearance of a Japanese warlord except for the 2 huge extra arms coming from his shoulders and ending in yellow claws. He would have been an extremely cheap character except for his one glaring weakness: Gaia is the second slowest character in the games. His jump, which launched him so high it gave both players time to think about their next few attacks before he landed, almost made up for it though. In the second Toshinden, Gaia has cast away his armour and is revealed to have knee-length silver hair and brown eyes. He wears black-with-brown-trim chest and shoulder armour, baggy yellow pants, and black and metal knee-length boots. His attacks had been toned down substantially from the first game; he could no longer kill in 4 hits. Also, he no longer had his impossible jump. In return, he was made slightly faster and easier to use.
[edit] Story
Gaia and his wife Kaede were both part of the Himitsu Kesshu organization that sponsored the Toshindaibukai tournaments. His wife was at that time the Uranus of the organization, making up part of the "Divine Four" (the four highest positions in the organization under the leader). Gaia himself was practically a member, but the one who would become the next Uranus thought it too dangerous to have them both in the Divine Four. Gaia, Kaede, their unnamed son, and their daughter Ellis were driving in the family vehicle when it spun out of control and exploded. Gaia and Ellis miraculously survived, but Kaede and their son were not as lucky.
Gaia knew it had been no accident, and he left Ellis in the care of an orphanage so he could pursue his family's assailiant without any hindrance. Gaia was promoted into the Divine Four, and he eventually learned that the woman who had become Uranus in Kaede's stead had masterminded what had happened. Filled with hatred for Uranus, Gaia illegally held the Toshindaibukai in search of strong warriors to aid him in his attack against her. Gaia met Eiji Shinjo at the tournament while searching for his older brother Sho Shinjo. Gaia announced his proposition to Eiji, but before Eiji could accept or refuse, Chaos, another member of the Divine Four, intervened and stopped the fight. Chaos told Gaia that he had been labelled as a traitor and marked for death. Gaia knew he had no other choice but to flee, for if Chaos had found him, Uranus couldn't be far behind, and he could not take her down on his own.
One year later, while still on the run, Gaia received an invitation to participate in the upcoming second Toshindaibukai tournament. Gaia realized that he could run all he wanted, but Uranus had an easier time finding him than she did breathing. He cast off his armour, and holding back nothing, fought against Uranus with everything he had; and this time, he was fighting with Eiji & co. Gaia fought his way to the organization's headquarters, meeting up with his daughter Ellis there. After telling her her true story, he went further into the tower and killed Chaos. Upon entering Uranus' chamber, however, he felt his heart leap into his throat upon discovering that she had already been killed. Gaia walked out of the tower half-fulfilled, half-revenge starved.
[edit] Rungo Iron
Rungo is a fictional, playable character in the first three installments of the video games series. He is an American miner, and a fighter in the arts of the stone club. Rungo was an ordinary miner, and friends with a fellow fighter named Gaia, but his life changed when Gaia mysteriously disappeared.
Bored by his lifestyle, Rungo decided to enter the Toshindaibukai fighting tournament hosted by the mysterious Himitsu Kessha. Rungo managed to get a glimpse of the tournament host, and although he couldn't see who it was behind his thick red armour, Rungo recognized the man's voice as that of his own friend, Gaia! Determined to get Gaia out of the Himitsu Kessha, Rungo fought as hard as he could, but was knocked out of the tournament by a Frenchman named Duke B. Rambert.
Two years later, Rungo received a call for help from Gaia. It turned out Gaia had hosted the tournament illegally, and was now a target from the Himitsu Kessha. Gaia begged his old friend for help to fight against his assassin, Chaos, and to get revenge against Uranus, who had killed his wife and son by causing a car crash. Rungo, determined to help Gaia, entered the second Toshindaibukai and fought alongside Gaia, until they were separated. Rungo heard that Gaia had killed Chaos, and that Uranus had been slain by someone else. Satisfied, Rungo returned home, until Gaia rejoined him.
Solely for entertainment, Rungo decided to enter the third tournament with Gaia, but the two soon found out that they had both been marked for death by the Himitsu Kessha for the death of Chaos (Chaos is on the third game, but in reality, he was killed during the second tournament). Rungo and Gaia were confronted by an Indian Giant named Tau, and a robot named Adam, just Rungo's size. Rungo defeated Adam by turning him into a pile of scrap, but while Gaia and Tau dueled, Tau realized that he couldn't win, and forfeited the match.
After that, Rungo and Gaia retired from fighting.
[edit] Master
Solely known as "Master" or "The Master", Master is a fictional, playable character in the second installment of the video game series, and the main antagonist of Battle Arena Toshinden 2.
Little is known about this mysterious but extremely powerful lady, except that she is the Superior of the ruthless Himitsu Kessha Organization. Until her defeat, Master had many bodyguards, the most notable ones being Sho Shinjo, Uranus, Gaia, Chaos, and Vermillion. But after Uranus killed Gaia's wife and son in a car crash, Gaia betrayed the Organization and illegally held the first Toshindaibukai. Master sent Uranus and Chaos to track Gaia down and kill him. Gaia fled for his life just after Chaos found him.
Master then held the second Toshindaibukai in order to draw Gaia out into the open, using Uranus as bait. But meanwhile, another matter caused Master's downfall, as she and Uranus were slain in their own headquarters by Sho himself. It seemed that Master had been creating clones of Sho that were framing him for murder crimes, and Sho, feeling betrayed, had revolted.
After the deaths of Master, Uranus, Chaos, the Himitsu Kessha was handed down to Vermilion, who brought in over ten bodyguards for the Organization.
Master only appears in Battle Arena Toshinden 2, but she is still the Head of the Himitsu Kessha on the first game.
[edit] Mondo
Mondo is a fictional, playable character in the first three installments of the video game series. He is an assassin for the Himitsu Kessha, and the sworn enemy of the main protagonist, Eiji Shinjo.
A mercenary from a Japanese Warrior Clan, Mondo entered the first Toshindaibukai solely for the purpose of assassinating Eiji, an order from Uranus, the Deputy Head of the Himitsu Kessha Organization. However, Eiji, being half Mondo's age and more agile, defeated Mondo in a fierce and bloody battle. But Mondo was not killed, and swore that he would one day get revenge on Eiji for ridiculing him.
Mondo's second chance to kill Eiji came when the second Toshindaibukai was announced, but once again, Mondo was beaten by Eiji. Mondo once again swore that he would engage Eiji in another battle, only this time, it would be a fight to the finish.
Mondo, knowing Eiji would be there, entered the third Toshindaibukai in order to exact his revenge. This time, Mondo was confronted by his rival and fellow mercenary, Toujin, who had been sent by Vermilion, the new head of the Himitsu Kessha since the deaths of Uranus and Master, to assassinate Mondo. Mondo and Toujin dueled, and Mondo emerged the victor. But there was one more matter left to resolve: Eiji.
Mondo eventually came face to face with Eiji, and the two enemies fought once again. But Mondo made the fatal mistake by revealing that he was no longer part of the Himitsu Kessha. Knowing that Mondo would now be free to pursue him now that he had retired, Eiji fought as hard as he could. Eiji's brutal attacks were more than Mondo could handle, and the battle ended when he was finally slain by Eiji.
[edit] Duke B. Rambert
Duke is a fictional, playable character in the first three installments of the series. He is a French Nobleman, and a champion knight of his King's Castle in France.
However, Duke was considered the strongest fighter in France until a young Japanese world-traveller named Eiji Shinjo was challenged to a duel by him. Eiji easily bested the arrogant Frenchman, and Duke vowed revenge.
For a while, Duke forgot about Eiji, and went on with his own life, eventually finding a girlfriend. But Duke turned back to fighting when he entered the Toshindaibukai tournament hosted by the Himitsu Kessha. To his horror, he came face to face with Eiji once again, and once again he lost pathetically, intensifying his hatred toward the Japanese Adventurer. Ashamed, Duke decided to retire from fighting.
But Duke entered the second Toshindaibukai after hearing that his girlfriend had betrayed him and become the new Uranus of the Himitsu Kessha. Driven by hatred, Duke entered the tournament, and this time, found himself fighting with Eiji to find Uranus. But when Duke heard that Uranus had already been slain by a man named Sho Shinjo, Duke abandoned the battlefield.
When the third Toshindaibukai was announced, Duke entered solely for the purpose of fighting Eiji once again, but he was stopped by a Himitsu Kessha soldier named Balga. Duke killed Balga in combat, and was one of the few fighters to survive the tournament.
Duke, after hearing that Eiji had slain the Himitsu Guards Abel and Viel and become the new head of the organization (a good one, not evil), retired from fighting for good, and settled down as a rich nobleman in France.
[edit] Sho Shinjo
[edit] Biographical Information
- Full Name: Sho Shinjo
- Alias: The Stranger
- Nationality: Japanese
- Age: 26
- Height: 5 feet, 10 inches
- Weight: 141 pounds
- Blood Type: A
- Occupation: Travelling swordmaster
- Known Relatives:
-
- Eiji Shinjo, brother
- Subaru Shinjo, son
- Weapon: Katana
- Fighting Style: Japanese swordfighting
- Quote:"Meifuku o inoru."
- Quote Translation:"Pray for happiness in the next world."
[edit] Description
Sho has just-past-shoulder-length brown hair and bright red eyes. He wears a purple mantle with one shoulder lifted up to allow freedom of movement for his sword-wielding arm. He also wears a black shirt and black pants, with the bottom of a red tunic and knee-length brown boots. He is twice as fast as any other character save perhaps Ellis, and his moves do twice as much damage as any other character except for Gaia and Rungo, who are designed for raw power. He started out as a very cheap character, but by the time Toshinden 3 was released he had been toned down somewhat to an almost-normal character.
[edit] Story
Sho had trained his younger brother Eiji Shinjo and Eiji's friend Kayin Amoh in the ways of the sword ever since the two were children. One day, however, he vanished without any trace, leaving Eiji and Kayin, as he felt they had reached an adequate level of swordsmanship and could train without him. He travelled the world over, taking the name "The Stranger", searching out and defeating all those who were even rumored to have any potential. Word reached Sho of the Toshindaibukai, a tournament that was to be held for the strongest in the world, and he decided to enter. Watching afar from the shadows, intervening only when he could stand it no longer, Sho waited out the tournament to see who was truly worthy of fighting him. It came down to Gaia, the holder of the tournament, and his younger brother Eiji, whom he had noticed earlier. A man named Chaos intervened and stopped the battle, as Gaia had apparently held the tournament without the permission of the organization who sponsored it. With Gaia out of the picture, there was only one left to face: Eiji. Sho confronted his brother and defeated him easily because Eiji held back and Sho did not. At the end though, Sho simply gave Eiji a glance over his shoulder and walked off, leaving Eiji beaten.
It is around this time, the point in between the first and second tournaments, that two major things happened in Sho's life. First, he killed Kayin Amoh's father, causing Kayin to begin a manhunt for Sho's head. Second, Sho's son Subaru Shinjo is born, the mother unknown. Sho enters the second tournament for the same reasons he did the first. He comes across Eiji once more, this time only narrowly defeating him. He breaks into the organization's main compound and kills Uranus and Master because they had been making clones of him and using them to turn people against Sho. He walks out of the building just as Gaia arrives.

Eijis gloves consist of black gloves with no fingers and white bandages along his forearm from his wrist almost to his elbow. He wears black pants, white ankle coverings with red diamonds on them, and brown shoes. Eiji is literally the ideal starting character. He is one of Toshinden's 2 all-rounders, having no advantages or disadvantages compared to the other fighters. Eiji's attack power, speed, and endurance are the standard by which all of the other fighters abilities are measured. In this respect, Eiji is often compared to Ryu (Street Fighter)
[edit] Story
Eiji and his best friend and rival, Kayin Amoh, were both trained from a very young age in the ways of the sword by Eiji's older brother Sho Shinjo. One day, however, Sho simply vanished, leaving Eiji and Kayin behind. As Eiji's skills grew, so did his desire to find his lost brother, and before long Eiji left in search of Sho. Along Eiji's travels, he fought and defeated a man by the name of Duke B. Rambert. Unknown to both of them, they would meet again many times over. Eventually, word reached Eiji of a tournament known as the Toushindaibukai, which was to include the best warriors the from across the globe, Duke and Eiji's old rival Kayin Amoh among them. Eiji enters the tournament in hopes of finding his brother Sho there. After defeating opponent after opponent, Eiji eventually faced Gaia, who was holding the tournament illegally. The rightful holders of the tournament, however, intervened, denying Eiji victory. He was not to be disappointed though, as Sho indeed appeared before Eiji. Needless to say, Eiji was ecstatic that he had finally found his brother, but Sho had changed into a heartless loner. In a flash, the fight was over, and Eiji had lost pathetically. Sho, however, gave Eiji one final look and vanished once again. Eiji took a vow; to continually sharpen his swordfighting skills and defeat Sho when next they met.
[edit] Sofia
Sofia is a fictional playable character in the first three installments of the video game series.. She is a Russian, Whip-Wielding Agent, and a friend of Eiji Shinjo.
But Sofia fell under the mind control of someone claiming to be called Uranus, the Deputy Head of the Himitsu Kessha Organization, for the sole purpose of eliminating Eiji to stop him finding his brother, Sho. Sofia and Eiji fought in the first Toshindaibukai, and Eiji emerged the victor, unwillingly hurting Sofia until she was unable to fight any longer. Frustrated, Uranus let go of Sofia, but Eiji took Sofia to medical care after the tournament's conclusion.
Sofia, along with Eiji, entered the second Toshindaibukai with revenge in her mind, but, like many other people who were after Uranus' head, were beaten to the punch by a revolting Sho, who had killed Uranus and Master after being framed for crimes by a series of clones created by Master.
Sofia entered the third tournament solely for the purpose of entertainment, but she was confronted by a Himitsu Kessha assassin in the form of her old Whip-Wielding rival; the Catwoman Zola. Sofia eventually killed Zola in combat, and after hearing of Eiji's take over of the Himitsu Kessha, retired from figting for good.
[edit] Tracy
Tracy is a fictional playable character in the second two installments of the video game series. She is an American Policewoman, who is often teamed up with fellow policeman Nagisa, who is only present in Battle Arena Toshinden 3.
Hearing of the death of a woman and boy in a car crash, Tracy entered the second Toshindaibukai undercover to investigate the activities of the Himitsu Kessha Organization, as the woman's husband, a man named Gaia had been working for the Organization at the time. Tracy, being a skilled fighter as well as a policeman, was narrowly defeated by a Japanese Adventurer named Eiji Shinjo, but she eventually found the answers she needed: The now-dead Uranus was the one responsible for the deaths of Gaia's wife and son. Tracy returned to New York and reported to her superiors, but there was one thing that she couldn't get over: She was known as the most skilled fighter on the NYPD, but she had still been beaten by Eiji, and she now desired a revenge rematch with him (just to defeat him, not to kill him).
After the announcement of the third Toshindaibukai, Tracy, along with Nagisa, entered in hopes of finding and battling Eiji. To her horror, Tracy was confronted by a Himitsu Kessha assassin in the form of a young woman named Rachael, Tracy's sister! Fueled by the hatred she had felt for her sister over the years, Tracy killed Rachael in a violent and bloody battle. But Tracy also heard of Nagisa's death at the hands of Vermillion, the new Head of the Himitsu Kessha. Tracy blamed Eiji for the loss of her friend, and her hatred for Eiji intensified once she heard that he had become the new Head of the Himitsu Kessha.
But later, Tracy realized that it was her desire for revenge on Eiji that had got Nagisa killed by Vermillion. Ashamed at what she had caused, Tracy returned to New York, and resigned from the NYPD, believing herself too distracted by personal feelings to continue as a policewoman.
[edit] Uranus
Uranus is a fictional, playable character in the second installment of the video game series. She is the French Deputy Head of the mysterious Himitsu Kessha Organization, and the main antagonist of the Toshinden anime.
Prior to joining Master as her second-in-command at the Himitsu Kessha, Uranus was an original woman (there is no knowledge of her original name) and the girlfriend of a French Nobleman named Duke B. Rambert. After Gaia's wife left the post of Uranus from the Himitsu Kessha, this lady stepped in and became the new Uranus, and even changed from a kind, warm-hearted person to a cold-blooded assassin. Among her murder victims were Gaia's wife and son. While Duke was driven by love-turned-hatred to kill his former girlfriend, Gaia was driven by his lust for revenge.
After Gaia illegally held the first Toshindaibukai to find help in his quest for revenge, Uranus and Master targeted Gaia for death and sent a warrior named Chaos to assassinate him. Chaos, along with a Russian Agent named Sofia, were under Uranus' mind control, and Uranus and Master were also using the DNA of the Himitsu Kessha Bodyguard Sho Shinjo to create clones of him and form an army. But these clones started to get out of hand, and they started committing crimes and framing Sho himself.
Shocked and betrayed, Sho murdered Uranus and Master, just as Gaia and Eiji Shinjo (Sho's little brother) arrived.
Uranus is only present on Battle Arena Toshinden 2, but she is still the Deputy Head on the first game.
Uranus can be unlocked in the game by pressing a sequence of buttons while the text of the main menu comes flying from the left side of the screen. Alternativly, she can be unlocked by playing the story mode once. She, along with the other secret characters of this game, can be found in the random select box at the top of the screen. She and the other scret characters appear after Chaos.
Uranus is a very strong opponent within Toshinden 2's game mode and stands to be even more difficult than the final boss, Master, herself. The CPU of Uranus acts like Gaia did from the first game; she'll constantly block and take the opportunity to strike when she sees an opportunity. Uranus's attacks vary from using her giant angel wings offensively or using her bow and arrow. With her bow and arrow, she can put up a fight close range or long range. Similar to Gaia in the first game, her jumps are high, and she has the ability to stay in the sky by using her wings to fly (circle while in the air), leaving her opponent to figure out a way to attack her. Also, some of her attacks, such as the 'Angel Charge' or the 'Rising Spiral Wing', leave her open for a counterattack if the hit fails to land. A cheap method used by players to defeat her is to get her close to the edge of the stage and have her use 'Angel Charge' or 'Rising Spiral Wing' to get her to fall out of the ring. However, there is a chance by using this method, that the player themselves could be knocked out of the ring due to the 'push factor' of Uranus's techniques.
[edit] Vermillion, the Living Enigma
[edit] Biographical Information
- Full Name: Vermillion
- Nickname: Verm
- Nationality: Unknown
- Age: Unknown
- Height: Unknown
- Weight: Unknown
- Blood Type: Unknown
- Weapon: A shotgun and a peacemaker
- Fighting style: Long-ranged gun attacks
- Quote: "Shi-ne!"
- Quote Translation: "Die!"
[edit] Description
Precious little is known about Vermillion. He has shoulder-length reddish hair, glasses, and a black trenchcoat. He prefers, like Sho Shinjo, to lie in wait as the other participants destroy each other, attacking only when they come close, or when he sees potential in a warrior. Despite this fact, and the fact that he uses guns, Vermillion is by no means a weak or cheap character. He is considered by many gamers to be the hardest character to master, but also the most rewarding.
[edit] Story
Vermillion first appeared at the second Toshindaibukai. He tries to wait out the tournament, but is found and confronted by Sho Shinjo. He manages to escape after realizing he has no hope of victory, to reappear at a later time. In the third Toshindaibukai, Vermillion makes his presence known almost immediately. He enters the fray, taking out several opponents but failing against and escaping from Eiji Shinjo. When Eiji and Sho battle for what is to be the last time at the end of this Toshindaibukai, he watches from afar, studying them both. He stops watching the fight prematurely, for he has seen enough to prepare for the 4th Toshindaibukai.
10 years after the last Toshindaibukai tournament, a fourth one was called to gather the four holy weapons. It was said that whoever possessed these four would have supreme and omnipotent power. Vermillion, however, knew their secret: When the four weapons were gathered, the world would come to an end. Eiji Shinjo, the new head of the organization, knew all too well of Vermillion's search for these weapons and specifically invited him to the tournament so that Eiji could kill him. Vermillion appeared at the tournament and quickly eliminated all of the weaker participants. Eventually it came down to himself and Eiji Shinjo; Vermillion fought to destroy the world, Eiji fought for the world. It was not revealed who won this fight, although Eiji seems like the more likely candidate for victory
