Go for it, guys. As the original article was slashdotted, I couldn't get the existing list. I put this stub here so that the info could be made available with a more reliable host.

While this is an important topic, and I agree it needs to be documented, it isn't really encyclopaedia material. I don't think Wikipedia is the right home for it... Why isn't it on another public, general purpose, wiki out there? http://c2.com/cgi/wiki maybe?

I agree, wikipedia is not a tech support forum. There is already a seperate wiki project to document linux hardware incompatabilities. see leenooks (currently slashdoted)
Perhaps this page could be developed with a historic perspective upon linux hardware incompatabilities over the past 13 years.

I also agree with this - and at any rate the title "Linux Incompatibility" is overly broad. Whether it is kept as it is, or changed to a historic perspective, perhaps a title such as "Linux Hardware Incompatibilities," or "Linux Hardware Compatibility," would be more descriptive of the content. --Constantine Evans 02:05, 26 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Get this [stuff] off of here. Anyone who tells you Linux is incompatible is a Microsoft shill.

Actually, this page was created to list hardware with which Linux is incompatible - a reference for Linux users. See the slashdot comment on the subject. --C Evans 23:08, 25 Aug 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Is it encyclopedic?
It's hard to say... if this is going to be a "bad" parts to use with Linux, I don't think it's encyclopedic knowledge.
For one thing, Linux is Free Software: what's incompatible one day may be compatible the next. Users can write their own drivers, and there are many distributions and versions of Linux that may be incompatible with various hardware.
The information is so fluid, that an encyclopedia just doesn't seem like the proper medium Mysidia 01:59, 26 Aug 2004 (UTC)
Rewrote to actually point to the Linux Incompatbility wiki that featured on /. I've removed the content dispute messages since I've rewritten it - if this was not appopriate or the dispute still stands, please readd them . Thanks Dysprosia 02:11, 26 Aug 2004 (UTC)
From what I can see, this article appears to be more tech support than encyclopedic material, for the same reasons as listed above. Comments? Wahming 09:01, 11 November 2005 (UTC)
