[edit] What is washing powder?
Is it a laundry detergent, or a dishwasher detergent, or a soap powder?
- It's what you put in a washing machine. Somebody in the WWW 08:19, 9 Jan 2005 (UTC)

- Thanks. Laundry detergent it is. Fg2 04:17, Feb 25, 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Rösch
I wonder if Rösch is a play on the more famous chemical company Roche Onco p53 20:33, 14 Feb 2005 (UTC)
-
- Most certainly not. Rösch is a very common last name in the german speaking part of Switzerland. Glaurung 06:21, 12 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- indeed, Rösch sounds very switzerlandish to me ;-) But I doubt that fact that the company Rösch is well-known in German speaking countries. I would remove this sentence. froo 1:14, 29 Sep 2005 (GMT)

[edit] POV
I really don't like the phrase "has so far been immune to legal action from Linus Torvalds". It implies that he has been taking legal action which hasn't got anywhere. Is this actually true, or has he in fact (as I suspect) never been at all concerned about the use of the trademark? David Johnson [T|C] 12:42, 17 Feb 2005 (UTC)
- As nobody replied, I've gone ahead and re-worded it. David Johnson [T|C] 02:37, 6 Mar 2005 (UTC)
[edit] When was product launched?
There are no dates in the article, but since I is written that legal action could be taken about the name of the product, I suspect it would be after 1991. Can someone give us some info Glaurung 13:51, 8 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- Legal action cannot be taken whenever it was launched, because laws usually preclude suing people over using the same name in a completely different context. Using "Linux" to refer to a detergent does not detract from the Linux kernel's trademark in any really meaningful way. --Joy [shallot] 22:57, 8 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- Yes I know that. But the aticle infers that the washing powder appeared after the kernel, without giving any dates. So does anyone knows when this product was launched? That would allow the reader to understand if this was pure coincidence or if the washin powder manufacturers may have (legally) taken advantage of the publicity around the name "Linux" Glaurung 11:34, 11 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- Note that "Linux" wasn't a well known tech word for quite some time after 1991. Unless washing powder people trawl usenet UNIX discussions, it could have been introduced anytime before 1996(ish) and plausibly be a coincidence. WikianJim 11:08, 22 July 2005 (UTC)
- According to Heise.de [1] is Rösch since december 2000 registered in the USA as owner of the brand "Linux" for the selling of cleaning- and hygienic products.

[edit] Sombody vandalized this topic again...
Right below the image reads: Boxes of Linux vagina rub stacked in a supervagina
Er, could we add a "Trivia" section ? An interesting fact is that the server hosting Linux Washing Powder's site is running SuSE Linux, the kernel version. Fun and interesting matter, to point it out, you just have to 404 somewhere on their page. I add it, and if it doesn't please to somebody, please drop me a mail so I can be aware of that.
[edit] Ancient Secret, Huh?
(reference to Calgon) Isn't that something. A Linux laundry detergent. Do you think the formula is open-source?
