Talk:Linda Brava
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Since she's an accomplished violinist and musician, surely we can start the article out with a picture of her playing, and then put a thumbnail of the Playboy cover further down?? -- nae'blis (talk) 20:23, 1 March 2006 (UTC)
- I've tried several times over the last few hours to get to her official site to maybe see if I could request a publicity photo but I can't get through to the site for some reason. I'll keep looking... Dismas|(talk) 02:42, 2 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] About the pictures
I don´t know how to add a picture, but if someone does, he or she could ask the picture from Reuters (for example, http://www.thestandard.com.hk/stdn/std/Weekend/images/sex80507.jpg) or Lampenius´(Brava) record company http://www.ladybird.se/contact.html . There's also a nice picture at Finnish Katso! magazine´s mediabank http://www.katso.fi/mediabank/images/201936.jpg. Katso!´s email address is katso@katso.fi and the publisher´s (A-lehdet) email address is info@a-lehdet.fi
- Wow. Someone get on this, stat! -- Jalabi99 10:01, 31 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Propaganda
This article is most likely written by media company of hers. Ms. Lampenius is not much known about music in Finland but her presence in Playboy and yellow tabloids (with ever going engagements of Swedish boyfriends). So article lacks why she is really famous. --Tbonefin 05:50, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] The Picture
I think that the picture is quite provocative and there are many other pictures that I find more suitable. Besides, the pictue is from exhipition called "Linda x 8" seen in Finland in 2003.
http://www.artistocheventbolaget.com/images/artister/linda_lampenius4.jpg This picture is from her Booking Agency —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 83.146.214.214 (talk • contribs).
- I don't know where you got your information from, but since you seem to know a lot about the subject maybe you can request a permission to use that image from the booking agency? If you have a free image, please upload it and replace the one I uploaded. Prolog 23:45, 16 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Her name
Is it the best way to put it, that she was born Linda Lampenius? In the Nordic countries she still uses the name Lampenius, and AFAIK that is still her real name while Brava is just a "nom de guerre" she uses in English speaking countries (where people might here something funny if Lampenius is pronounced fast). // habj 21:33, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Removed text
In my attempt [1] to make the article NPOV and more encyclopedic I removed some texts that reads like advertisements for the artist:
- "Brava's music video for Ave Maria can be seen on Classic FM's TV."
- "Brava has performed for the president Martti Ahtisaari, the Royal Family of Sweden, the Princes of Monaco and for many senators of the United States as well as in the EU's top-meeting. She is still playing her classical repertoire mostly with a pianist, but also with a harpist."
- "Brava released a pop album selling gold in Scandinavia" Can you sell gold in Scandinavia? Cite this please
- "Brava got lots of attention across the Europe and soon she was heading to Great-Britain."
- "and more headlines - like wise the front page of The Sun and the cover of The Sunday Times' cultural enclosure - were dedicated for her."
- "Brava has also played and performed pop and rock music in Stockholm's Globen, Helsinki's Hartwall Areena, London's Royal Albert Hall and Monaco's Sporting Club like wise in Playboy Mansion and in some TV-shows in the United States."
- "She also did KFOR Chronicle for NATO in Kosovo playing mostly pop and rock material." What does this sentence mean?
- "Charlie Jones and Chris Blackwell from the on-tour band of Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page and Robert Plant with XTC's former guitarist Dave Gregory and producer Craig Leon have written and produced many rock pieces for Brava, but for now, those have not been published just yet."
- "Since then, she has made two large concert tours across the country, and managed to convince critics and listeners that she has an intuitive feel for Nordic folk music."
- "Her latest album, which presents the finest songs in Nordic folk tradition - has been truly a critical success."
- ==In media==
- ===Publications===
- The international media has published endless amount of articles of Brava. She has graced the covers of many periodicals from Playboy to Classic FM magazine.
- The Times, The New York Times, and The Sunday Times have all reported on Brava's musical career. The cover of The Sunday Times' cultural encloser was dedicated for her, and she has also been featured in New Scientist's editorial.
- Classical music magazines have raved her talent and not by the least The Gramophone. Q-Magazine and Muso have also written about her.
- Playboy magazine printed a ten-page article, Details named her the best newcomer in music- and sex-categories and GQ and Maxim have both interviewed her. Also women's magazine have wanted to write about Brava. Hello! has published a five-page article and British and Swedish Elles have also made wide articles about her when not forgetting about Vogue.
- In Finland, Brava has been a household name for over a decade. All got started, when she made a musical appearance on a televised Finnish Academy Award Show in 1996. No tabloid was quite complete without her. Although, Brava is an acclaimed violinist with impressive musical accomplishments, she has always drawn more attention with her private life than with her music. Rumors on her breast implants, marriage plans, break ups, eating disorders, and her broken little finger have captured most of the attention since day one. Today, the Finnish yellow press has already many other celebrities to write and gossip about, so the attention around Brava is now more in balance.
- ===TV===
- Brava has made many TV-performances as a musician performing in various enterntainment shows and visiting several talk shows in nearly every European country, Asia and the US. She has also been interviewed by many television channels like NBC, CNN, ABC, FOX TV, ITV, Rai Uno, Channel 4, BBC etc. Some of Brava's musical performances have also been telecasted over the years and, for example, her pop/rock show in Royal Albert Hall in 1997 was broadcasted by BBC.
- ==Quote==
- "Regardless of the endless hours of practising and giving up a "normal" childhood, I can't say that I'd regret a single moment. Music has taken me around the world and it has enabled me to experience many different countries and their cultures --- I'm happy and very grateful that I've had the privilege to experience the richness of harmonies and colours and the joy of creating music together, when playing in different orchestras since the age of 8 --- Classical music is my love and gives me shivers"
- Linda Brava This could be transwikied to Wikiquote
- ==The year 2006==
- Brava has performed numerously in Europe, playing mainly in Sweden at sing-along and rock events, but also in Greece, England and Russia. For example, Brava had five pop shows in Moscow and a classical music concert in Siberia's Irkutsk's Dram Teatr during this autumn. Brava also gave again a head of state standard performance by playing to the president of Kazakhstan - a year after, performing to the Swedish court.
- In the end of the year, Brava will relocate herself again, when moving back to the U.S - this time into New York City.
- Brava's new manager is Rory Johnston, a former manager of Sex Pistols, now influences in classical music.
That's all, I think some of the information can be worked in to the article again if its rephrased. bbx 07:10, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
