LinkNet
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
LinkNet is a security/privacy-oriented IRC network that supports SSL-encryption. SSL services on LinkNet run on port 7000 rather than the default 6667-9 of IRC. It is worth noting that both SSL and cleartext connections are allowed, but one may use /mode #chan +S to require users to be connected via SSL in order to join that specific channel.
Channels can be set to mode +S, which means only SSL-enabled clients can enter the channel.
The network also supports "hostname mangling", which means that your real host is hidden from other users. This is done with the server command /mode <yournick> +h. As the name suggests this "mangles" your existing hostname so that other users cannot view your host or get your ip address.
To enable 'host mangling' do /umode +h
