Linköping Municipality [ˈˈlɪnʃøːpɪŋ] is a Swedish municipality in Östergötland County in southern Sweden. Its seat is in the city Linköping, with 94,000 inhabitants. With a total population of 137,000 (2004), the municipality is Sweden's fifth most populated.

The municipality borders in the west to Motala, and clockwise to Finspång, Norrköping, Åtvidaberg, Kinda, and Mjölby.

Currently, the municipality is ruled by a coalition of the Social Democrats and the Centre Party. The highest official is Lena Micko, a Social Democrat. Linköping is one of the few municipalities which names the speaker of the assembly mayor. Currently, this position is held by Eva Joelsson, also a Social Democrat. The largest opposition party is the Moderate Party, led in Linköping by Paul Lindvall.
