Ling-Ling and Hsing-Hsing
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ling-Ling (1969-1992) and Hsing-Hsing (1970-1999) were the names of two pandas given to the United States as gifts, by the government of China in 1972. They were housed at the National Zoo in Washington, DC where they attracted millions of visitors each year. They lived longer than any giant pandas in captivity outside of China. The pair had several cubs, but none of them survived past a few days.
