Lindenholzhausen (in local dialect "Hollese") is a district of the town Limburg an der Lahn, and has been since 1972. Other districts in Limburg are Ahlbach, Blumenrod, Dietkirchen, Eschhofen, Linter, Offheim and Staffel. Lindenholzhausen has an area of 831.7 hectares, larger than Limburg itself (806.7 h) and which makes it the second biggest district by area after Linter. The population in July 2003 was 3,038.

[edit] Location and Infrastructure

Lindenholzhausen is situated at the Motorway A 3 between Cologne and Frankfurt (Main). The village is about 3 km in the eastern direction of exit 43 ("Limburg Süd"). The Bundesstrasse 8 goes directely through Lindenholzhausen. In addition, the L 3484 towards Mensfelden connects the place with the B 417, which leeds towards Wiesbaden.

Using the InterCityExpress Station Limburg Süd, around 2 km outside the village, Lindenholzhausen is connected via the Cologne-Frankfurt high-speed rail line with Cologne and Frankfurt. On the ICE it takes about 20 minutes to Frankfurt Airport and approximately 40 minutes to Cologne Bonn Airport. There is also a railway station on the Limburg line, Limburg, running on through - Niedernhausen - Wiesbaden and Frankfurt respectively.

This large network of ensure Lindenholzhausen is well connected with local cities. which still is quiet and rural.

The average elevation is approximately 170 metres above sea level.

Despite having good infrastructural connections to major local cities, the village has more of a rural character.

Lindenholzhausen is well known for its many choirs. Although the village has only around 3,000 residents, it has 11 choirs. These are the "Cäcilia-Chöre" (consisting of a male, female and youth choir), a Pop and Jazz choir, a young choir as well as the "Schrägen Acht"), the "Harmonie" (consisting of a male choir, young harminists, the 'little choir' and the church choir.

Throughout the years, these choirs have won multiple national and international prizes. The choirs contribute to many well known international choirs, one reason why Lindenholzhausen is also known as the "Biggest Singers Village in the World".

Local events include the annual Kirmes and several associations anniversaries as well as Singing and Folklore festivals. Often the attendance ranges from 10,000 to 20,000 people from all around the world, often with just a few days notice.
