Lina is the name of a neo-soul recording artist who was born in Denver, Colorado and raised in the Dallas area. Lina can sing in seven different languages. [1]
Lina released her debut album Stranger on Earth in 2001 on Atlantic Records. It received a strong critical response for its blend of R&B with swing and vocal jazz. The title track was a cover version of a Dinah Washington track. The tracks "Playa No More" and "It's Alright" became minor hits [2] while the album reached #89 on the Billboard R&B and hip-hop album chart. [3] Nevertheless, she was dropped from Atlantic.
Her second album was titled The Inner Beauty Movement and was released in June 2005 on the Hidden Beach Recordings record label. [4] The single "Come to Mama" attracted some airplay but failed to chart.
She also wrote the track "Ain't Nothing Like a Jones" for Tyrese. [5]
