Lim (also often Im or Yim) is a common Korean family name and a Han Chinese family name. Korea's Lim families were possibly originated from Lin's Fujian clan in China. According to Lin's family historical records, it shows that during the closing of Tang dynasty in 907 A.D., Lin Ba (林八) and his families left Fujian because of political persecution and took sea route from Fujian, China to Silla. They settled down in Pyeongtaek and the decedents have since lived across the Korean peninsula for 39 generations with an estimate population of 1.2 millions today. After meticulous research, the Korean Lim's family association Chairman 林芳铉 and members has since visited Paenseong in Fujian and confirmed the origins of the Lim's clan in Korea.
