Limón International Airport (Spanish: Aeropuerto Internacional de Limón) (IATA: LIO, ICAO: MRLM) is one of the four international airports in Costa Rica. The airport is located in the city of Limón in Limón Province.
It recently officially reopened on Saturday, July 1st after being closed nearly 20 years.
Puerto Limon and the Southern Caribbean Area towns of Cahuita, PuertoViejo, Manzanillo and Gandoca, as well as the Indigenous Communities of Bri Bri, Hone Creek, Carbon 1 and 2, Shiroles and Suretka are all within 2 hours of the Puerto Limon Airport by Ground Transportation.
Sansa Airlines, the National Airline of Costa Rica, now flies Tuesday, Thursday and Saturdays each week from San Jose Juan Santamaria International Airport to Puerto Limon.
Beginning in August 2006, Sansa Airlines will also fly from Puerto Limon International to Bocas del Toro, Panama.
