[edit] License tagging for Image:Fenyowithkertesz.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Fenyowithkertesz.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 06:04, 11 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Kertész
Do not upload photos of yourself with other celebrities, as you did with Imre Kertész. You could have edited the photo to show only Kertész. Referring to yourself as "writer and philospher" to boot is self-agrandisement, which is not permitted on WP. CRCulver 09:06, 11 October 2006 (UTC)
I notice that your only Wikipedia activity to date has been mentioning yourself all over the place. Wikipedia does not permit vanity articles, and editors are not permitted to create or edit their own biographies. Please consider contribuing to Wikipedia on articles that are not connected to you personally. Consider this a warning (since I can't get the right template tag to work ATM). CRCulver 13:01, 11 October 2006 (UTC)
–Incorrect Chris! Why don't you come to Wikinfo and check out all the articles which I created for them? Look...I sense you have a bias that goes beyond the honorable mission of Wikipedia. I used to tolerate implied threats, character defamation, etc. Not any longer. I know your identity and if you should seek to defame me any further I will seek legal action in court! And I will report you to The Anti-Defamation League B'nai Brith for further investigation. Wikipedia is full of promotion; except most people hire others to do it for them!!! I am not just promoting my actual, verifiable, non-average, relatively significant, well-documented, contribution to human history, but I am also promoting the lives of other noteworthy individuals whose accomplishments are also noteworthy! Attempts by certain sinister cabals within Wiki-world to distort historical truth and manipulate information have been quite successful till now, but the world is rapidly heading towards a point of actual total, all out conflict between the forces of reactionary thinking/behaving and the forces of wisdom and tolerance. Which side will you be on? I offer you my hand in peace...for now. The illusion that Wikipedia is totally objective is no less false than that which for years was held with respect to Encyclopaedia Brittanica and others. Bias is and will always be present, even in the best of documentation. The picture was a fair submission and could have been put on the side. The fact that I am a writer (published a number of things in print over a period of over two decades) and a Philosopher (because I do have an original and deep set of ideas) should not be disrespected. As far as I am concerned crackpots who could, were it not for the rules, cause critical damage to this great, monumental work do exist, but I am not one of them. I can furnish specific articles from credible sources about who I am and what I have dedicated myself to. I suggest you study up on me by reading everything there is on the web (which is not the majority of information about me).
- Making threats of legal action is considered very serious on Wikipedia. Allow me to place the WPA tag, and then to report the threats on the Admin's noticeboard. Please see Wikipedia's no personal attacks policy. Comment on content, not on the contributor; personal attacks damage the community and deter users. Note that continued personal attacks may lead to blocks for disruption. Please stay cool and keep this in mind while editing. Thank you. CRCulver 13:48, 11 October 2006 (UTC)
- Done. Please note that Wikinfo and Wikipedia are not affiliated, therefore it doesn't matter what edits you have made there. Wikipedia does not allow editors to write their own biographies, it is that simple. If a subject is notable, he should not have to write his own information here, someone else will come along and do it in due time. Also, please note that I am not in the United States, nor do I espouse racist or anti-semitic sentiment, so why would the ADL care? CRCulver 13:55, 11 October 2006 (UTC)

- And how can you tell from a plain portrait photograph whether someone is an anti-Semite? My insistence on following rules against vanity articles has nothing to do with one's race, colour, or creed. And if I hate Jews, why am I so passionate about the work of Imre Kertesz, whom I consider among the very greatest Hungarian men of letters? (It was your self-aggrandizing edit to his article that alerted me to your edit history.) And no, you have no right to make legal threats here. Wikipedia has often deleted the accounts of people who have done so in the past. CRCulver 14:08, 11 October 2006 (UTC)

- Legal threats I have not made. I have simply pointed out the fact that I can take legal action...not threats. By the way: the rule of law applies even to Wikipedia and Wikipedia's owners are facing a number of legal actions, mostly because they have allowed people to abuse their power. Having met Imre on a number of occasions and knowing what he thinks about Steven Spielberg and his most famous movie on the Shoah I am not fond of Imre. He and I respect one another and we are free to disagree with one another. The nobel prize should not have been given to him.

- "I know your identity and if you should seek to defame me any further I will seek legal action in court! And I will report you to The Anti-Defamation League B'nai Brith for further investigation" Threatening to sue me if I continue what I'm doing (enforcing WP's rule against vanity or autobiographical editing) is clearly a violation of the relevant guideline. I've already alerted the admins. CRCulver 14:21, 11 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] AMA Intervention requested
User: CRCulver is deleting my work without justification. He is not an admin.. He has asked that I not contact him. I will not contact him. But I want him to get a Jewish Wikipedian by his side each and every time he seeks to delete my work, otherwise he is in violation of the principle of Wikipedia. I do not want to engage in a war of ideas and words. I just want User: CRCulver to know that he began this by offending me, even if his objection to a photo I submitted (showing me with Imre Kertesz) was semi-justified. I have asked for AMA remediation.Lightning-Feather 00:15, 14 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Letter to User:Zoe
The world of Wikipedia is not what it should be and would be if people would not INITIATE personal attacks while correcting possible or actual violations of The Five Pillars of Wikipedia. The first round of Word Wars against me began all because I dared write about myself an article. Sure, call it self-promotion, but self-aggrandizement it is not. I was not fully aware of the rules then, but the fact is that there are people, not unlike myself, who are worthy of mention on Wikipedia, have sufficient write-ups, press coverage throughout the years or were a significant phenomena at a time, but who: a) cannot afford to hire PR and Publicity firms to have someone write about them on Wikipedia or b) would not impose upon their prominent friends to do so! Wikipedia should have a Special Cases Department, just as government should, were certain exceptional individuals can have their day in "Wiki Court", and have a determination made by a "Wiki Jury" as to whether or not they deserve a mention in Wikipedia. In any case, Alec Wilkinson, of New Yorker magazine fame, intends on writing an article about me for Wikipedia, partly out of fairness, since there is mention of Amy Alkon and her two partners in plagiarism. Amy Alkon, Advice Goddess, was one of the Three Free Advice Ladies. They read my write-up in The New Yorker and attempted to become famous at my expense! Until that time my life as The Free Advice Man was quite fulfilling, and I managed to help many people, including some on the verge of suicide. You may want to visit www.infinitysociety.org/FREEADVICEMAN.html to get the full story. Why does this matter?? Because, while it is true that I may have violated Wiki Rules in the past, which I no longer seek to do (as of Tom Harrison's warning), Wikipedia could benefit from an eccentric contributor. Yes I was and I am very angry to find that there are Wikipedians who will make unscientific statements about another person's intellectual accomplishments and worth. Yes it is likely that there are people who go too far in enforcing the NO ORIGINAL CONTENT pillar. I am astounded that no one ever cared then (neither User:Trovatore, User:MikeTwo, or any of the current Wikipedians involved in this case) or now to make a sincere effort to contact Prof. Miklos Hernadi at The Hungarian Academy of Sciences, who will verify my status as a philosopher and who is aware of media reports in Hungary about my life as a philosopher from 1994 to 2002, including a published book of mine for which he wrote a Peer Review (he has a Ph.D.). And should Alec Wilkinson submit an article about me there should be no reason for it to be deleted.
Look, I am 42 years of age and more European than American. Maybe Wikipedia is age-blind, but people who are younger, and perhaps less accomplished in life, should take the other person's age into consideration and communicate in a respectful and polite manner. If you analyze the whole matter, and if you are seriously interested in objectivity and making the world a better place, then you may yet come to the understanding that I never initiated any attacks, even though I did overreact at times. Also, about anti-Semitism... When someone attacks me, who really does not know me, my life's story and the reasons why the media has covered me, and dares claim that I am practically a "nobody" then my reactions are perfectly understandable and given that the strong appearance of malice exists, why should I, as a Jew, not conclude, especially about persons who openly admit strong Christian identities with Christian groups that have a known track record for being anti-Jewish. Maybe CRCulver is not aware of his hate for the concept of infinity, which is my specialty and to which I profess my intellectual support for. Maybe he is not an anti-Semite, but he sure did not communicate to me (right from the beginning) as one would normally expect. As for promoting certain views and ideas; most Wikipedians and people working on Wikipedia do this all the time! Some more subtly than others.
Anyway, you've blocked me indefinitely... Who benefits?? Look: I never went around looking to insult Wikipedians over their violations or mistakes; I never deleted information (because I think that there should be people in Wikipedia assigned for that sort of thing, and those should not be the same as those who add information!!!); .....in fact, come to think of it, that is a great idea! People who do the verifying of facts should not be those who write them...separation of Wikipowers!.... Anyway, adding an article titled "Infinitology" is not violating the "NO ORIGINAL CONTENT" pillar, because nowhere in that article did I talk about my name or my identity (other than being the author), and in fact talked about such prominent individuals, living and deceased, as Philip K. Dick, Isaac Asimov, Carl Sagan, Giordano Bruno, Baruch Spinoza, etc.... Anyway, since there are hundreds of known cases of people who have been blocked from Wikipedia who are actually accredited Ph.D.'s, librarians, intellectuals, etc. and since there are dozens of persons who are convinced beyond a doubt that Wikipedia is run amock by sinister cabals and that there is an anti-Semitic slant prevalent in many of its articles, as well as cleverly placed and subtle Neo-Con distortions of facts to benefit the Neo-Con attempt to control information and knowledge content and access...since all that is REAL...I am not too troubled by my own predicament and know that I am, relatively speaking, more of a victim of attacks than a perpetrator of violations of Wiki standards... Some day I will be riding a major wave of recognition and publicity, even if only, as was with Spinoza, after my demise...although I hope that I will live to reap the intellectual rewards in my natural life... So, before you pass final judgment on me do me the kindness, as the attorney for Yakov Bok did in "The Fixer" by Bernard Malamud (a most impressive literary work...made into a great movie starring Alan Bates), and read up on me at my web-site (and inside the digital New Yorker, and dozens of other publications). Then, and only then, will you be able to understand my POV and why I was right to feel attacked! Whoever you are...foe or friend or neutral...I wish you will make Wikipedia a much better place for its contributors...
Hope to hear from you some day ( to contact me go to www.infinitysociety.org and use the auto-form).
Best,
