[edit] A short Esperanzial update

As you may have gathered, discussions have been raging for about a week on the Esperanza talk page as to the future direction of Esperanza. Some of these are still ongoing and warrant more input (such as the idea to scrap the members list altogether). However, some decisions have been made and the charter has hence been amended. See what happened. Basically, the whole leadership has had a reshuffle, so please review the new, improved charter.

As a result, we are electing 4 people this month. They will replace JoanneB and Pschemp and form a new tranche A, serving until December. Elections will begin on 2006-07-02 and last until 2006-07-09. If you wish to run for a Council position, add your name to the list before 2006-07-02. For more details, see Wikipedia:Esperanza/June 2006 elections.

Thanks and kind, Esperanzial regards, —Celestianpower háblame 16:00, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] ARV

Can you modify the ARV svript so it adds a "report" button to the new user log so if it is a bad username all you have to do is click "report" and it sends it to AIV with the summary "username" so you don't have to fill one in? --GeorgeMoney (talk) (Help Me Improve!) 03:39, 28 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Major ARV Bug

I'm not sure if this only happens to me, but whenever I report usernames with spaces in them the spaces change to +'s instead so the vandal template doesn't pick it up right. Here's some edits where it's happened: [1][2][3]. Please fix, it is a very useful tool. ;)--Andeh 14:21, 28 June 2006 (UTC)

Didn't occur in my last report with it. :S --Andeh 19:54, 28 June 2006 (UTC)

ARV is awesome man!  Dure  (T)X(E)X(C) 21:37, 1 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks for your support in my RfA!

Thanks for voting!
Hello Lightdarkness/Jul 2006, and thanks for your support in my recent RfA. I'm pleased to announce that it passed with a final tally of (96/0/0). I was overwhelmed by all of the nice comments and votes of confidence from everyone. Thanks again, and see you around! OhNoitsJamie Talk 02:07, 7 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] ARV bug

It's messing up usernames reported on WP:AIV. You can see here for an example... Titoxd(?!?) 04:00, 11 July 2006 (UTC)

I've reported this already, don't know if Light is bothered to fix it. :S --Andeh 21:52, 11 July 2006 (UTC)
Hey now, I'm a busy guy :) --lightdarkness (talk) 04:56, 12 July 2006 (UTC)
Hehe ok, but please fix it. It's a great tool as it is but would be even better bug-free! Pleeeaaassee? With cherries on top! :) --Andeh 09:36, 12 July 2006 (UTC)
Here's another slightly different example, this time while reporting an anon IP with a blank userpage [4]. Thanks, though, for the tool and your help! --Wine Guy Talk 18:48, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] LDL bot

Hi. Thanks for the good work with the LDL bot. One suggestion. Could you replace its edit summaries from "Wikipedia python library" to something more specific to its tasks, say "Start AfD page for July 5, 2006" when doing AfD, and similarly for other jobs? Would be a nice touch. :) Thanks. You can reply here if you have comments. Oleg Alexandrov (talk) 15:21, 7 July 2006 (UTC)

Gosh, so demanding! :) Just forgot since I had to re-write all of LDBot when I got my new computer... didn't bring anything over from my old computer. Will take care of that now. --lightdarkness (talk) 16:06, 7 July 2006 (UTC)
A low-density lipoprotein bot sounds like a cool idea. — Jul. 7, '06 [15:27] <freak|talk>
Cholesterol for deletion, that is. :) Thanks for looking into the matter. Oleg Alexandrov (talk) 03:21, 8 July 2006 (UTC)
Another thing regarding it: the bot's currently not listing the discussion pages on Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/old when it removes them from Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/current (like it used to do a month ago). - Bobet 09:29, 13 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Bot Request

I would like to make a bot request, but I thought it would be best to talk to you since your bot already performs an operation similar to the one I am about to request. For Portal:Current events, I would like to have sub-pages created on a daily basis a lá the Articles for Deletions pages. However, since events on the current events portal are in local time, adding the new page close to 0000 UTC won't work (it must be done before 0700 UTC or so, with a buffer zone included). So essentially:

Pretend it's July 14, 2006. Sometime around (or before) 0700 (UTC) 14 July, I would like the bot to do the following:

  • Create Portal:Current events/2006 July 15 (note it's the day after; leading zeros in date prohibited).
  • Insert {{subst:Portal:Current events/DateHeader|2006|07|15}} to the page (yyyy|mm|dd, leading zeros optional).

And that's it. It doesn't seem to be too far off from what LDBot does with the Articles for Deletion. If you are for whatever reason unable to code your bot to perform these two tasks, please contact me on my talk page. However, if you are able to enable your bot to perform these two tasks, I would greatly appreciate it. Feel free to speedy delete any user-created sub-pages that would interfere with the performance of your bot once you get it working (the few user-created pages for future dates should not have any events in them, so this shouldn't be a problem). Thanks in advance. -- joturner 03:54, 14 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Awesome tool!

I just wanted to say thanks for developing the ARV tool. It makes it so much easier to report users. Thanks a bunch! --Tuspm 14:45, 18 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thank you for your RfA support!

Thanks for contributing to my successful RfA!
