Lighthouse Point is a city in Broward County, Florida, United States. The city was named for the Hillsboro Inlet Lighthouse. The population was 10,767 at the 2000 census. As of 2004, the population estimated by the U.S. Census Bureau is 11,212 [1].

Lighthouse Point is located at 26°16′29″N, 80°5′22″W (26.274691, -80.089414)GR1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 6.2 km² (2.4 mi²). 5.9 km² (2.3 mi²) of it is land and 0.3 km² (0.1 mi²) of it (4.58%) is water.

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 10,767 people, 5,165 households, and 3,078 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,815.4/km² (4,695.0/mi²). There were 5,871 housing units at an average density of 989.9/km² (2,560.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 97.05% White, 0.43% African American, 0.15% Native American, 0.79% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 0.42% from other races, and 1.16% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 4.18% of the population.

There were 5,165 households out of which 19.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 50.7% were married couples living together, 6.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 40.4% were non-families. 33.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 16.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.08 and the average family size was 2.65.

In the city the population was spread out with 16.2% under the age of 18, 3.4% from 18 to 24, 27.1% from 25 to 44, 30.1% from 45 to 64, and 23.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 47 years. For every 100 females there were 91.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 89.4 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $53,038, and the median income for a family was $72,418. Males had a median income of $51,897 versus $32,929 for females. The per capita income for the city was $40,839. About 2.6% of families and 5.0% of the population were below the poverty line, including 3.8% of those under age 18 and 6.5% of those age 65 or over.
