Severn class lifeboat in Poole Harbour, Dorset, England, the largest class of UK lifeboat at length 17 metres. Made from: fibre reinforced composite. Power: two 1250HP diesels. Fuel Load: 4.6 tonnes. Crew: 7 (including a doctor). Endurance: 10 hours at 25 knots.
This class lies afloat on a sheltered mooring or pontoon berth and is allocated to stations where its size and large survivor carrying capacity will be useful (ie ferry ports).
A Y class inflatable boat is carried on the wheelhouse roof and is launched by the onboard crane.
