Lichtenberg is a borough of Berlin, Germany. In 2001, it was merged with the former borough of Hohenschönhausen; the resulting borough retained the name Lichtenberg. It encompasses an area of 52.29 km² and has, as of 2003, about 260,200 inhabitants.
Its current mayor is Christina Emmrich (PDS).
Lichtenberg was home to the extensive main headquarters complex of the Stasi, the East German intelligence service. The complex is now a museum.
Lichtenberg contains also the Tierpark Berlin, the larger one of two zoological gardens in Berlin.
