Liberty Township, Trumbull County, Ohio

Liberty Township is an urban township located in Trumbull County, Ohio, just north of Youngstown. Liberty Township is one of twenty-four civil townships in Trumbull County. It is located on the southern edge of the county, and is formed from the Connecticut Western Reserve. From Liberty Township is formed the city of Girard, although-- as is the case with other townships in the Western Reserve-- the city is not considered a part of the township. In 2000, the U.S. Census counted 23,522 people in Liberty Township.

Liberty Township borders or touches the following other townships and municipalities:

The city of Youngstown, on the south;
The city of Girard, on the west;
Weathersfield Township, to the west of a non-conterminous portion of Liberty Township;
Howland Township, touching the northwest corner of a non-conterminous portion of Liberty Township;
Vienna Township, on the north;
Brookfield Township, on the northeast (touches, but does not border);
Hubbard Township, on the east

The Liberty Local Schools mascot is the Leopard.
Seceder's Square is the town's historic town center (although it no longer serves as a functional center of the town)
Most commercial businesses in Liberty are located along Belmont Avenue (Rt. 193)
Twenty-four other Ohio townships are named Liberty.
