Liberty is a city in Montgomery County, Kansas, United States. The population was 95 at the 2000 census.

Liberty is located at 37°9′22″N, 95°35′53″W (37.156211, -95.598001)GR1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.7 km² (0.3 mi²). 0.7 km² (0.3 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 95 people, 50 households, and 29 families residing in the city. The population density was 141.1/km² (369.0/mi²). There were 62 housing units at an average density of 92.1/km² (240.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 85.26% White, 1.05% African American, 8.42% Native American, and 5.26% from two or more races.

There were 50 households out of which 18.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 48.0% were married couples living together, 10.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 42.0% were non-families. 40.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 18.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 1.90 and the average family size was 2.52.

In the city the population was spread out with 15.8% under the age of 18, 8.4% from 18 to 24, 22.1% from 25 to 44, 30.5% from 45 to 64, and 23.2% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 46 years. For every 100 females there were 102.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 105.1 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $23,750, and the median income for a family was $32,500. Males had a median income of $26,667 versus $19,375 for females. The per capita income for the city was $14,917. There were 9.4% of families and 13.5% of the population living below the poverty line, including 33.3% of under eighteens and 8.3% of those over 64.
