Liberation Day (Lebanon)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Liberation Day is a holiday in Lebanon on May 25.[1]
On May 25, 2000, the Israeli army completed it's withdrawal from Lebanese occupied territory after 22 years of occupation. The United Nations certified the withdrawal as complete. Few weeks later, the United Nations demarcated the Israeli withdrawal line by which was called the Blue Line.
Lebanon claims that the Blue Line does not match with its international borders and that Israel is still keeping Lebanese territory under occupation, mainly in Shebaa Farms. The United Nations considers the Israeli withdrawal from Lebanon to be complete. [2]
