Lianne Lin (born May 7, 1979) is an American model.
Lin grew up in a small town just outside of Berkeley, California. From elementary through high school, she said you would have known her as "the shyest nerd you would ever find." From a very early age, she took an interest in art. She also had a lot of pets, including a dog, cat, fish, hamsters, birds, and a rabbit. Lin's crowning achievement growing up was winning the spelling bee in 6th grade.
In junior high, she was still introverted, focussing on playing her violin and saxophone in band class. She spent all her money on the trendiest clothes because she wanted to be popular, but it just never happened.
Meanwhile, Lin continued exploring her interest in art. In high school, she took more art classes and even won some awards. She was a high school cheerleader her senior year, where "hated cheering but loved performing the dance routines."
After graduation, she went to Diablo Valley College in Pleasant Hill, California. She was active with Asian Student Union and proved instrumental in developing their hip-hop dance group. It was at Diablo that she expanded her art expertise via computers and Photoshop, a skill that she would later develop as her interest in photography grew. She also played the drum set in a band with some church friends.
Lin later enrolled at San Jose State University, where her 'wild side' took off -- she buzzed her hair, pierced her nose, and got her first tattoo. It was here that she started cutting hair as a hobby. Eventually, she would graduate from SJSU with a bachelor's degree in Pictorial Art in December of 2000.
It was in October 2000 that Lin sent a few pictures to websites and started doing modeling shoots. Shortly thereafter, she put together her own website together with the help of a book called Teach Yourself HTML 4.
Wishing to learn more about the beauty and fashion industry, she enrolled in beauty school in May 2002 and received a cosmetology license a year later. In 2003, she began doing photography as a side job.
Even though she loved the Bay Area, she made her big move in February 2005 to Los Angeles so she could pursue her dream of acting. When she's not acting, she works in a West LA hair salon and continues to explore opportunities in photography, modeling, and web/graphic design.
On one of her first shoots, the photographer tried to get her taker her top off. It made her so upset that she won't even consider a photoshoot if it involves any sort of nudity. She has since considered submitting for Playboy but has decided that she has convictions against personally doing that sort of thing.
