Leysin is a municipality in Switzerland in the canton of Vaud, located in the district of Aigle. It is a sunny alpine resort village at the eastern end of Lake Geneva in proximity to Montreux, Lausanne and Geneva. In prior years, Leysin was known for its sanatoriums for tuberculosis, now, however, it is a destination for year-round mountain sports and recreation.
Located in the Alps, Leysin enjoys spectacular views across the Rhône Valley towards the (Dents du Midi). Leysin is situated at an altitude of 1263 m. The municiaplity can be accessed by road or the Aigle-Leysin train (c. 35 minutes). Trains depart hourly. Leysin offers three stops (stations).
