Lexigraf

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Current lexicographical projects require a lot of IT infrastructure to be completed - both hardware and software. Software needs to function as a desktop publishing engine, a terminology database management system and electronic dictionary generation engine.

A similar type of system, Lexigraf was developed at the Aristotle University Thessaloniki Greece over a multilingual science lexicography project and several branch ones. Multilingual dictionaries in print typically come into 2 volumes, deploying a term reference index technique for compactness. Terminology databases formed are also used in e-publishing efforts. Branch projects include bilingual dictionaries and machine translation memory databases.
