Talk:Lewistown, Pennsylvania
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Regarding the posting for Lewistown, Pennsylvania, the Education summary states, "Currently there are no institutes of higher learning in Lewistown. Penn State University is the closest, located 30 miles northwest of the borough. As of February, 2006; there are plans to build a community college that would serve the area."
Actually Penn State has had a center for degree completion, noncredit and professional development for years in the business center in downtown Lewistown. Named "The Penn State Learning Center", it served 150 adult students last year through associate degree programs. The lLarning Center also partners with the Lewistown Hospital to deliver general education science courses toward the hospital's nurse diploma program.
I am sure that South Hills Business School, right next door to to the Penn State Learning Center, would also disagree that there are "no institutions of higher learning in Lewistown".
