Lewis Collins (born 27 May 1946 in Bidston, Birkenhead, Merseyside) is a British actor. He is best known for his tough-guy role as Bodie in The Professionals. He was also considered an excellent candidate for the role of James Bond in the early 1980's
In his youth, he was in the merseybeat band The Mojos and then worked as a roadie for several years. He enjoys music, shooting and parachuting, and holds a private pilot's licence.
In the 1970s he enrolled in the British Territorial Army and also tried out for elite commando unit, the Special Air Service. Although he passed all the trials, he was turned down because of his high public profile, which was apparently against the SAS' desire for anonymity. He drew on his experiences to portray an SAS officer in his lead role of Peter Skellern in the 1982 film Who Dares Wins. In making the film he suffered a broken nose during a fight scene.
Since 1992 he has been married to schoolteacher Michelle Larrett and they have three sons.
