Let It Ride (musical)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Let It Ride is a Broadway musical based on the 1935 Broadway farce Three Men on a Horse by George Abbott. The musical, with book by Abram S. Ginnes and music and lyrics by Jay Livingston and Ray Evans, opened in New York at the Eugene O'Neill Theater on October 12, 1961, and played 68 performances. The original production starred George Gobel, Sam Levene, Paula Stewart, and Barbara Nichols.
As a racetrack-themed musical vehicle for a then-popular TV personality, the show is no more than serviceable. Old pros Livingston and Evans, however, managed to come up with several above-average songs, including "Love, Let Me Know," "Everything Beautiful," "Who's Doing What To Erwin?," "Just an Honest Mistake," and "His Own Little Island," and the cast album is enjoyable.
