[edit] History
First, Céline gave 4 concerts for the Chinese New Year in January and February 1998 in Melbourne, Australia and Hawaii, United States. Later, in April she did 3 shows at the Caesar's Palace, Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Beginning with August 1998, Céline toured the United States, Canada, Hong Kong, Japan , Holland, Belgium, France, Switzerland, Germany, and United Kingdom. In all, the sold out tour lasted more than a year, with 95 shows. It began on August 21, 1998 in Boston, United States and continued to major cities around the world. It ended on December 31, 1999 with a Millennium Concert in Montreal, Canada.
Céline sang three virtual duets with artists displayed on the video screen: "Tell Him" (with Barbra Streisand), "Immortality" (with The Bee Gees) and "Treat Her Like a Lady" (with Diana King). Guest appearances included Jean-Jacques Goldman on "J'Irai Où Tu Iras" and Taro Hakase (violin) on "To Love You More" (this role was also played by two other people: Roddy Chiong (from Shania Twain's band) appeared during a few of Céline's early 1999 shows and the musician Mark Wood appeared with her in a couple of her late 1998 shows. Other shows featured no musician on stage and footage of Taro Hakase was shown on the big screen instead). Barnev Valsaint (backup singer) was joining Céline on "I'm Your Angel."
Lot's of the shows (after March 1999) that were originally announced were cancelled due to René's cancer. Some of them were postponed until later in the year but those that were cancelled completely included Dublin, Birmingham, Frankfurt, Gothumberg, Vienna, Barcelona, Marseille, Lyon, Cologne and Lisbon.
Céline gave her final public concert before going on vacation at her "Millennium Concert" at the Molson Centre, Montreal, Quebec, Canada, on December 31, 1999. She also did a private concert in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States, on January 1, 2000, open only to family and selected industry professionals (about 230 people).
