[edit] Album information
The CD format made available songs that previously existed in the vinyl format which was almost exclusively reserved to the collectors. This compilation was released in France because of Céline's success in that country. Her single "Un Garçon Pas Comme Les Autres (Ziggy)" was a smash hit at that time. That album was re-edited in October 1995, when the Dion-mania really hit France. After a commercial success in other countries (The Colour of My Love, Falling into You), Les Premières Années was released in selected parts of the world as well (with different covers and by various music labels).
"En Amour" and "Comment T'Aimer" were released before only as the B-sides. It was the first time they were included on an album.
[edit] Chart success
The re-edited compilation charted in France in October 1995 and one month later it was certified gold for selling 100,000 copies (all this thanks to D'eux and its big success). Les Premières Années also charted in the United Kingdom in October 1996, peaking at #135 (with no promotion at all).
