Leopoldo Laborde

Leopoldo Laborde (born in November 6th, 1970) is a Mexican film director, screenwriter, photographer, editor and self-made producer. He enters the movie- business in 1984 as a production assistant in Mexico City. In the years between 1988-1995 he shoots four feature films on home-video and develops his skills as a story-teller as well as his visual aesthetics. In 1997 he shoots his first feature film in 35mm., Angeluz, a horror film which later became a cult movie. Immediately afterwards, he writes and shoots Sin Destino (1999) and Un Secreto de Esperanza (2002). Main actors are, respectively, Roberto Cobo and Katy Jurado, being these two films the last acting performances they gave. Sin Destino is known as “a key piece in raw realism”, and Un Secreto de Esperanza won 12 awards in several film festivals around the world. During 2005 he shoots Enemy, this time with debutant performers.
Laborde is known for his particular vision and great versatility in movie styles.
