Leopoldina of Brazil

Leopoldina of Brazil, Princess of Brazil and Duchess of Saxe (São Cristóvão Palace, July 13, 1847 - Vienna, Austria, February 7, 1871).
Dona Leopoldina Teresa Francisca Carolina Micaela Gabriela Rafaela Gonzaga de Bragança e Bourbon was born as the third child and second daughter of the Emperor D. Pedro II of Brazil and Empress D. Teresa Cristina, princess of Two Sicilies. She was baptised at Imperial Chapel, by bishop capelão-mor Manuel do Monte Rodrigues de Araújo, the Earl of Irajá. She was named after her grandmother, the Archduchess Maria Leopoldina Josepha Caroline of Austria.
D. Leopoldina was married on December 15, 1864 to Prince Ludwig August Maria Eudes of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, Duke in Saxony, second son of August of Saxe-Coburg-Kohary (Fürst (Prince) Kohary de Csábrág et Szitnya from 1851) and Clémentine of Orléans.
They had four sons:
- Peter August Ludwig Maria Michael Gabriel Raphael Gonzaga (b. Rio de Janeiro, 19 May 1866 - d. Vienna, 6 July 1934); succesor of his father as Peter, Prince of Kohary in 1907. Peter died unmarried and was succeded by his nephew Rainer.
- August Leopold Philipp Maria Michael Gabriel Raphael Gonzaga (b. Rio de Janeiro, 6 December 1867 - d. Schladming, 11 October 1922).
- Joseph Ferdinand Maria Michael Gabriel (b. Petrópolis, 21 May 1869 - d. Vienna, 13 August 1888).
- Ludwig Gaston Klemens Maria (b. Ebenthal, 15 September 1870 - d. Innsbruck, 23 January 1942).
