Leonid Alekseyevich Filatov (Russian: Леонид Алексеевич Филатов) (24 December 1946 - 26 October 2003) was a Soviet and Russian actor, director, poet, pamphleteer, who reached popularity acting in the Taganka Theatre run by Yury Lyubimov. Despite severe illness that haunted him in the 1990s, he received a slew of awards, including the Russian Federation State Prize. He was named a People's Artist of Russia in 1996.

Leonid Filatov was born on 24 December, 1946, in Kazan. Father - Filatov Aleksey Yeremeyevich (born 1910). Mother - Klavdiy Nikolaevna's Filatova (born 1924). Family frequently moved around - father was a radio operator and much time conducted in the expeditions. When boy was seven years old, parents divorced, and Leonid with the mother went to Ashkhabad to the relatives. Still being a schoolboy, he start publishing in the Ashkhabad press.

In 1965 after school he arrived to Moscow, expecting to enter a producer department of the VGIK. Attempt was unsuccessful, and Leonid by advice of a classmate decided to take examinations to the actor's department of the Shchukins’s school. He was accepted to the course of B.K. L'vova and L.N. Shikhmatov, graduated from theatrical school into 1969.

In 1969 Filatov becomes an actor of Moscow Taganka Theatre. First main role – a leading one - in the play "What to do?", further there were "Master and Margarita", "Cherry Garden", "House on the Embankment", "Fasten Belts", "Pugachev", "Antiworlds", "Comrade, believe", a role of Goratsio in "Hamlet", Kul'chitskiy in "Fallen and Living", Federtsioni in the "Live of Galileo", "Players -21" (Sergey Yursky’s creative association of the artists.

From 1985 through 1987 "Taganka" is under Anatoly Efros, Leonid Filatov at this time works in the theatre "Sovremennik", then he returns to "Taganka". In 1993 together with Nikolai Gubenko, Natalie Sayko, Nina Shatskaya and other actors he creates a creative association "cooperation of the actors of Taganka".

Author of several plays (Artist from the Sherwood Forest).

From 1970 Filatov works in the cinema, in the films the "City of the first love", "Crew", "Women joke in earnest", "Rooks", "Success", "Chicherin", "Forgotten melody for the flute", "City Zero", "Charitable ball".

In 1990 he directs the film "Sukiny Children", based on his own scenario and playing there one of the roles.

Since 1970 writes songs in the co-authorship with Vladimir Kachan.

He was married on the actress of the "cooperation of the actors of Taganka" Nina Shatskaya.
