Leonard James Akaar
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In the fictional Star Trek-universe, Leonard James Akaar was the son of Teer Akaar and Eleen. He was born in 2267, shortly after his father was killed in a struggle with the Klingons ("Friday's Child"). He was named after Captain James T. Kirk and chief medical officer Leonard McCoy, who helped to resolve the conflict. Leonard inherited the title of chief, and came to rule when he was old enough.
[edit] Non-canonical appearances
In the Deep Space Nine relaunch and other Star Trek novels, Akaar left his homeworld under a cloud and joined Starfleet. He served on the USS Excelsior under Captain Hikaru Sulu. By the time period of the DS9 relaunch, he had become an admiral. He is slow to trust, and generally gives the feeling he disapproves of something. This is considered non-canon because it appears only in a book rather than any episode of aired Star Trek. However, non-canon "facts" such as these are accepted by many fans as providing continuity.
