Leon Leroy Knight (born 16 September 1982 in Hackney, London) is a English footballer currently playing for Barnsley on loan from Swansea City. He joined the club from Brighton and Hove Albion in January 2006 for a fee of £125,000, after a series of arguments with Brighton manager Mark McGhee, culminating in him being thrown off the team bus after an argument with McGhee over team selections.
Knight began his career as a trainee at Chelsea, spending loan periods at Queen's Park Rangers, Huddersfield Town, Sheffield Wednesday and Brighton and Hove Albion before joining Brighton on a permanent contract initially for free, with £50,000 to be paid on promotion, which Brighton attained through the playoffs thanks to a penalty from Knight against Bristol City at the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff
On 10 January 2006, Knight had the rare distinction of scoring a first-half hat-trick on his début for Swansea City in a League One match against Milton Keynes Dons at the Liberty Stadium, completing the feat inside the first 27 minutes of his first appearance for the club.
He grabbed his second hat-trick for the club on 6 May 2006 in a 4-0 away win at Chesterfield to secure Swansea City's place in the end-of-season promotion play-offs, following this up with two goals in the play-off semi-final against Brentford.
However he and his agent had been taking bungs behind the club's back in order to pay for his gambling and drug habits, so Knight was let go by Kenny Jackett, signing on loan for Barnsley F.C.
